Heterosexual cultural norms have dominated throughout most of history, but the growth of Islam brings that dominance into question.
In Islamic countries, heterosexual affection in public is either legally banned or against the mores of the region. For example, several Islamic countries have criminal penalties for public kissing between man and woman. However, its extremely common to see Muslim men holding hands, kissing, or sitting on each others laps.
Furthermore, unnatural separation of the sexes is imposed on the entire society. Islamic community is thus divided into single sex communities. In most Islamic countries, all areas of discourse or movement have this separation in mind, either by literally having separate rooms, or imposing strict norms or laws regarding womans clothing.
The degree to which a community separates the sexes, is the degree to which homosexuality and incest is increased. Like the law of thermodynamics, sexual energy cannot be destroyed, only diverted

I think what's spreading is bigotry...
If you look back at your history, Islam is basically repeating the history of christianity. Remember the crusades? It's just sad that humans don't seem to learn from history.
As for separation of the sexes, it goes far beyond Islam. I grew up in a VERY catholic nation. I went first to an all girl school and then to a school where the boys and girls were sat on different sides of the room with an empty row in between. This was what they called integration. Most of our activities were very gender specific, to the point where I really don't know my own brothers.
Some girls experimented with each other. The boys did too. It was the way around keeping your virginity and still enjoy the flesh.
What I'm saying is, this is not an islamic thing, so get over it and open your heart and your mind. Religions are not really all that different from one another. The differences are just petty human emotions like what you seem to be experimenting. Whatever your faith, pray that your heart is cleansed.

Judging by your question, I'd say that you've been impacted by negative media on Islam, and that you have no knowledge of Islam whatsoever.
Islam forbids a married man and a married woman to kiss in public, but they may kiss however much they want in the privacy of their own home. A Muslim man kissing a Muslim man in public is strictly forbidden, and by the laws of Islam, it'll take you straight to Hell. Just to let you know, before you post any more questions of these types, Islam strictly prohibits homosexuality. It's like a one-way ticket to Hell.
It is just a common tradition to see Arab Muslim men kiss each other lightly on the cheek. It is not gay, it is just a tradition they have. Muslim men DO NOT hold hands or sit on each other's laps. I strongly advise you to THINK before you type anything.
They separate the sexes ONLY in extremist Arab countries. This is not required by Islam. It is a belief of extremist Islam.
Homosexuality does not even exist within Islam as they strictly prohibit it.
Next time, think before you say anything.
And...to this idiot above me here: 1) There are no such thing as a gay Muslim. 2) You're an @$$hole.

When I first read your question I thought it was a racist joke. After reading the expanded version I realized that you were serious. I find this to be another sad example of someone from outside a culture making judgements about others based on a perception couched in their own cultural experience. North America has a very liberal (some would say excessively permissive) view of sexuality in all its forms, healthy and unhealthy. Think about it this way: If someone from an Islamic culture and faith, or any other for that matter, watched American TV and movies or surfed the internet, and made judgements about all North Americans based on the perceptions they gained, wouldn't that be unfair and unjust? Imagine what passes for North American culture in the rest of the worlds' view if this is their only experience of what we are about. I for one, am disturbed by much of what I see. Particularly when sexual exploitation and other forms of violence are glorified.
In addition, if we analyse our culture from a critical standpoint, we might take a lesson or two from other cultures on how to express love and friendship. I believe people in Canada and the US have suffered because of disapproval of public expressions of male friendship. Hugging and kissing of both genders is common in many cultures around the world and as far as I know, this has never put hetersexuality in any danger.
Maybe we all need to loosen up and learn how to show our love and appreciation of others while respecting the rights of others to have their own values. If those values need changing, the people inside the cultures will change them. There are certainly a lot of North American values that I see portrayed that I am against. I try to accept my responsibility to try to change what I can in my sphere of influence.
Here's one last idea. Get to know someone on a personal level from another very different culture. Ask them about their beliefs and values, not to argue with them or change them but to understand them better.
Sorry for being so long-winded but this is a complex topic and a very important one that we all need to discuss.

It is fairly common for men to show affection towards each other, this is not just an Islamic thing but is also found in other cultures including Europe. These are all platonic gestures and not intended to be sexual at all. All this homophobia and the machoistic attitude in the American culture is responsible for associating any form of male-male bonding with sexuality.

Girls and boys have no buisness being together outside of marriage as it just leads to drugs, acohol, smoking, sex before marriage, and babies which the teenage girls go and kill. Gays have no place in society as that is against GOD!!!!!!!!! So yes Islam is the only religion smart enough to outlaw gay people.

It means we need to pray more fervently.
Jas 5:16
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
