No, if it is in school it shouldn't be forced.
Religion should not be forced on anyone and people should not be conditioned to believe especially children, they are vulnerable. They can decide when they are old enough to make such a decision and commitment.

Kids should'nt be forced to pray if they don't believe in God and have no religion. If there are kids that would like to pray everyday, then they should be given a few minutes each day to do so or can do it at lunch or recess or on their time. but this should'nt interfere with the other kids. Prayer can be done before school or after school, I think its kind of selfish to bring it into a public school. The problem is how to set a uniform rule for people that have different beliefs? the answer is you can't, that's why the uniform rule should be one of tolerence.

prayer in school? School should just be a place to learn History, Math, Science, English, and a Language. No need for a prayer unless it a cool prayer

When I was a little fella prayer in schools was basic...there was no stigma attached to same. I look at me I am no crazier, no more a socio-path or other negative type of personality than a lot of the "Crackpot's" found on this site. I say up with prayer...why because it is a positive thing expressed with good intentions mostly and it sure is better to feel about than say...Human Bombs.

I think prayer in public school is fine as long as it's not required and as long as it's not a led prayer that favors one religion over another. By the latter I mean no one stands up and says, "Let us pray to [insert deity of choice here]" and then says the prayer aloud - as it might exclude and demean students who have other religious beliefs.
Obviously if it were a religious school then prayer is likely led and required, and that's fine, too. The main point being that prayer itself is not the issue. The issue is whether students are being *forced* to pray to a deity they may not belive in, or made uncomfortable by feeling osteracized if they don't participate in prayer.

No, there will always be a majority religion in a school, (usually Christianity in America) and any adherents of another, minority religion could feel ostracized. Additionaly, prayer supposes that its religion is true, which is impossible to prove and very unlikely for any religion. Therefore, it is inappropriate for schools to present it as truth.

Sure, BUT
Only if it's not a Christian only prayer. If there is Buddhist meditation prayer, Muslim prayer, Quaker prayer, Baha'i, Jewish, etc...
It shouldn't be forced and it shouldn't be one religion.

Sure, as long as you pray, "inside your head."
This is the best of both worlds. Goddies get to do what they want, and non-goddies don't get offended.
It is also the same consideration you'd show regarding any behavior that isn't appropriate in a specific setting. You wouldn't masturbate in school, even though most people agree it makes them feel good.
School is for education. Stopping to pray interferes with the educational process, but if people want to "zone out" and pray in their heads during lessons, they'll get exactly what they deserve from the class.

I am for the idea of prayer in schools, i am even for the idea of having after school Bible studies for kids that want to share the word with other kids there age, like a club for those that want to join, you know what I mean? Prayer in school? OH YEAH ! Totally for IT. I don't care what people say, if my child wants to pray, (that is when I have kids), I am going to raise them to do it. I don't care what the government says, it's their right!
