(of any religion) not even take the time to read thouroughly about other belief systems, and look for similarities between them? why write everything off before truly examining other teachings. what is the harm in doing some research. is following blindly next to Godliness?

I was lately reading leviticus and theres some things i dont understand. it says:Leviticus 20

20And if a man shall lie with his uncle's wife, he hath uncovered his uncle's nakedness: they shall bear their sin; they shall die childless.
I dont understand this because i know someone who has had sex with his uncles wife and has had children, but here it says they will die childless. is that because this was written before Jesus was born to forgive our sins? or does this still apply? i dont understand.

I guy I work with outwardly professes himself to be an atheist. I have no opinion of this really, but I found what he said once interesting. I asked him "Was there some event that caused you to become a non-believer?" He said "Yeah, I grew up!". He explained that as he became more worldy and knowledgable that religion (esp. Christianity) just seemed to be a silly form of make- believe? What do you think of this???? I haven't had a chance to talk to him lately as he's been off with a really bad illness for the last week.

I learned I can hurt people by being smart and snotty and obnoxoius with my mouth to "cut a person down to size" that has hurt me. But you know what, this has gotten me nowhere fast and I am not a teen I am in my 30s. What are godly and prudent ways to deal with sacrasm, nasty people who put me down either on the phone at work or otherwise. I dont't want to fight anymore. I just want to grow up and go on with my life. What are godly ways to learn to be gentle?

And who was God's creator's creator? And who was God's creator's creator's creator...see where I am going here?

As a non-believer it has been argued to me by Christians that the material to create the universe had to have come from somewhere and that God created it. But when I ask who then created God, nobody can answer that. Could if be that man created God in their mind and that is the only place that God really exists?

You know something we say as christians that we want to love the unlovable, touch the untouchable, reach the unreachable, but how many people do this and I speak this doubly to myself. It seems like churches dont know how to minister or want to minister to people with ongoing and continual problems, I am volunterring at a mission tommorow what are godly ways that I can share the love of Christ not only in word but deed? There are many in this country USA that are poor, and have little to eat, and have harldy anything,.

When I used to work at Kroger, this lady asked me what church I went to. . .I told her the truth," I'm not a religious person and I'm happy this way". She told me to go to Hell, "hello, I don't believe in anything but myself and that I don't need a religion to know good from evil, right from wrong. She was not a true Christian!

Christmas was designed to replace the winter solstice. Similarly, Easter began as a celebration of the vernal equinox.

At least the solstice means something, for everyone on earth, sun is at its greatest distance from the equatorial plane resulting in the shortest, (or longest if south of the equator) day of the year.

This year the Solstice occurs on the 22nd of December. But I'll still celebrate the season during my days off from work, the 25th and 26th.

Merry solstice to all and to all a good night!

Do you think that a lot of chruches are in happy, happy, joy. joy mode? I used to think, what is this person problem why arent they joyful they act like they are at a funeral in church? They should ba thankul, then in 2003-2004 through a series of hard lesson and advesrsity I got "knocked off my high horse and knock on my backside" its hard to be joyful when you are in pain, suffering, and if you never get a break in life, my question, how do I minister to those that have it hard in life and dont have joy and how do I be compassionate towards these people? How do I NOT push this on people and be a light? This has been on my heart thank you for your answers and God bless you.

Christians joined with the world largest corporation, and that is the beginning of your all loving, godly ways?

Christians joined the govenment because it made them exempt from taxes and the govenment joined with christianity because they knew that if people didnt question their religon they would question their government. I know that you guys dont believe in logic but it a court of law that would be considered MOTIVE and purpose for christianity. Do you just ignore that fact that your ancestors where so about money that they murdered and raped millions in the name of god, and these are the people who wrote a book that you base your entire lives on?

If the only selection process most of us use in selecting a belief, is by being born into it (the religion of our parents), and most of us never change religions after that happens, then it seems to me religion happens to us by "default". Religion by default almost sounds like brain washing, or a form of it anyways, with very little free will involved. Most of us don't choose our religion, just like I don't choose to be white, or you choose to be black. The POINT I am trying to get us to discuss, why is religion so exclusive? Why is the path to Nirvana, or Heavan, or enlightment, usually only available through the religion you happen to be born into. Isn't that the same as saying 90% of all Buddhists, which happen to be Asian, are going to Hell (Christian belief?)... Doesn't that mean God is preferential? Is God a racist? (See my earlier question "I am being told if you do not believe in my religion, then you will go to hell. Why? " if you are interested)
