And who was God's creator's creator? And who was God's creator's creator's creator...see where I am going here?

As a non-believer it has been argued to me by Christians that the material to create the universe had to have come from somewhere and that God created it. But when I ask who then created God, nobody can answer that. Could if be that man created God in their mind and that is the only place that God really exists?

I wish I could respond to each of you individually but that might take me a while. I will follow up with a part II to this question. Thanks for all the responses. Seems as though the consensus is that God was not created but rather he always existed and if I read the bible I would know this...wait until you see my follow up question:)

You answered your own question. Man has been inventing gods for over a hundred thousand years, and we probably haven't seen the end of gods yet.

"People with no inner spiritual life sometimes ask: If God created everything, who created God? The Prophet said that some people would ask this very question: "A day will certainly come when some people will sit with their legs crossed and ask: 'If God created everything, who created God?'" [1]

At best, the question is based on perceived "cause and effect" relationships. Everything can be thought of as an effect and attributed to a prior cause that, in turn, is attributed to a prior cause, and so on. However, we must remember that cause is only a hypothesis, for it has no objective existence. All that objectively exists is a particular sequence of circumstances that is often (but not always) repeated. If such a hypothesis is applied to existence, we cannot find a creator of the first cause, because each creator must have had a prior creator. The end result is a never-ending chain of creators. [2]

The Creator must be Self-Subsistent and One, without like or equal. If any created being "causes" anything, that capacity was created within that being, for only the Creator is Self-Existent and Self-Subsistent. Only the Creator truly creates and determines possible causes and effects for His creation. Therefore, we speak of God as the Sustainer, who holds and gives life to all of His Creation. All causes begin in Him, and all effects end in Him. In truth, created things are "0"s that will never add up to anything, unless God bestows real value or existence by placing a positive "1" before the "0".

In the sphere of existence, what we call causes and effects have no direct or independent influence. We may have to use such words to understand how a part of creation is made intelligible to us and available for our use. But even this confirms our dependence upon God and our answerability before Him. God does not need causes and effects to create; rather, we need them to understand what He has created."

why does an infinite God outside of time, and an enviroment, that doesn't need a body, need a creator, when he always existed. I don't see your logic. Obviously if your theory is correct and their is a beginning to his existance then you are right. But the Earth is proved to be non-static which means it has a beginning. Therefore whoever started it must live outside the dimension of time. Which is Albert Einstein theory of relativetly that proved his theory of a God.

What are you saying we came from randomness. When the Universe is finite. That is about the probability of well can we say 0. That's like looking at Mount Rushmore and saying these presidents could have been formed by chance. Yeah really.

To one who examines the evidence, there can be no doubt that God exists. Every building has a builder. Everything made has a maker. The fact of the existence of the Creator is axiomatic (self-evident). That’s why the Bible says, "The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God’" (Psalm 14:1). The professing atheist denies the common sense given to him by God, and defends his belief by thinking that the question "Who made God?" can’t be answered. This, he thinks, gives him license to deny the existence of God.

The question of who made God can be answered by simply looking at space and asking, "Does space have an end?" Obviously, it doesn’t. If there is a brick wall with "The End" written on it, the question arises, "What is behind the brick wall?" Strain the mind though it may, we have to believe (have faith) that space has no beginning and no end. The same applies with God. He has no beginning and no end. He is eternal.

The Bible also informs us that time is a dimension that God created, into which man was subjected. It even tells us that one day time will no longer exist. That will be called "eternity." God Himself dwells outside of the dimension He created (2 Timothy 1:9, Titus 1:2). He dwells in eternity and is not subject to time. God spoke history before it came into being. He can move through time as a man flips through a history book.

Because we live in the dimension of time, logic and reason demand that everything must have a beginning and an end. We can understand the concept of God’s eternal nature the same way we understand the concept of space having no beginning and end—by faith. We simply have to believe they are so, even though such thoughts put a strain on our distinctly insufficient cerebrums.

God was in the beginning. He is God. A God doesn't need to be created.

What about the alternative? A big bang? Where did the atoms come from?

I believe God exists outside of time itself. Perhaps he exists at the speed of light. I don't really know though. How are we going to live forever. It boggels my mind. As mortal human beings, we only understand things within the realm of time. Beginning and end. Life and death. It sounds like you have just as much faith to believe in matter appearing as God always existing. Both are speculation and will always be that. It comes down to what do you WANT to believe?

God is Omega, the beginning and the end. Read ch.1 of Genesis of the bible. He is God all by himself, he doesn't a creator.

God is, and was and always will be, He is the First and Last, Alpha and Omega. Something alwayz has been. I beleive it is God. If u don't beleive in God, u still must know that no matter what, there has alwayz been someone or something. There can't have ever been nothing. We Christians choose to believe it is God Who has alwayz been. There was no one and nothing b4 Him, He alwayz has been. I know it sounds confusing but theres no other explanation...
(I totally agree with Jason M)

What created energy? What created that? See where I'M going? As a believer, it has been argured to me that energy has always been around, otherwise the world couldn't have been created by it. But how do we know? WE DON'T. And you know what? I don't have absolute proof, beyond shadow of a doubt, no way. Not any proof a scientist would believe. But I know one thing: He has always been around.

Just because we were created and the world was created doesnt mean that God had to have a creator. Is it so unbelievable that there is a being who just existed? He is a devine being that was here. Why is it so hard for you to grasp that there is a God?It goes both ways ya know.
