If the only selection process most of us use in selecting a belief, is by being born into it (the religion of our parents), and most of us never change religions after that happens, then it seems to me religion happens to us by "default". Religion by default almost sounds like brain washing, or a form of it anyways, with very little free will involved. Most of us don't choose our religion, just like I don't choose to be white, or you choose to be black. The POINT I am trying to get us to discuss, why is religion so exclusive? Why is the path to Nirvana, or Heavan, or enlightment, usually only available through the religion you happen to be born into. Isn't that the same as saying 90% of all Buddhists, which happen to be Asian, are going to Hell (Christian belief?)... Doesn't that mean God is preferential? Is God a racist? (See my earlier question "I am being told if you do not believe in my religion, then you will go to hell. Why? " if you are interested)

With a billion religions out there your odds to be in the 'correct' religion is not good! Therefore to blindly accept one's religion as true is not a good idea, one should be open-minded and study other religions as well with the true intention of learning and not just criticizing. Then later on at least you can tell to God that I tried!

Thou shalt put no other god before me nor graven image, for I am a jealous god.
The bible states in the ten commandments that god is jealous.
It stands to reason in that same passage that he is also racist.
Or at a minimum prejudiced against other gods or divine entities.
We know that those that canonized the books of the bible were prejudiced, They never put the book of Mary Magdalen in it.
Remember that Jesus was a product of the middle east. The Jews were not from New Mexico or London. They lived in the Middle east.
When Cain killed Able and was sent out, He married a woman of another tribe. Who was that tribe?
So would that other tribe be persecuted for taking in a killer and thus of lower standing?
Jews are the chosen people. Does that make them the only true Religion?
Makes you wonder.

Not necessarily. A big part of religion is spreading your beliefs(i.e. missionaries) and trying to convert others.
But I can kind of see where you're coming from. Most people are born into the religion that they eventually die into and a major part of religion is the belief that your way is the right way. So I can see how you'd draw that conclusion. A very deeply insightful and controversial statement to make.

Of course God isn't racist. However, many churches are. A lot of the Bible took place close to (or in) what is today the middle east. However, many children's bibles (with illustrations) or stained glass windows at churches or nativity scenes or even paintings depict the people in the Bible as white/caucasian. However, as the events took place where they did, it is more likely that those people would've had darker skin, and darker hair.
No, God is not the racist, it is those who pretend to "know" Him so well that are racist.

Well he could have avoided the problem altogether by not creating diverse skin colours in the first place (it’s not as if he didn’t know since he’s all-knowing). It appears that god behaves like a little kid and delights in causing lots of trouble and then blaming the mess on others.

No. God is not a racist. If he were, he would not have made Miriam leave the camp for 3 days for picking on Moses about marrying outside his race.Job was thought to be Chinese in all actuality. And one cannot be held responsible for that which they do not know. However, from those who know much, much is expected.

If no one told you about God and Jesus, do you think that God will look at you and say,"Sorry-off to hell?" NO. God will not punish those who never had a chance--only those who had the chance to witness and didn't. Only those who heard and rejected.God loves us all, those of us who chose to pick up our cross have a great duty to fulfill.
