How do I know for sure they will pick up. Is it a leap of faith that when I call it will be them and not someone else and my parents abondened me and didnt tell me the new number?

Is this what God believers do, is say ok I believe in God just like I believe when I call my parents they will pick up?

I am a Christian, and I totally am committed to my faith. However, I see Christians on this site answering non religious questions with "the Lord God said..." and other such strong statements. To someone who is not a Christian, that is off putting. I think it comes off snotty, or that you think you are superior. I think a concerned point of view, showing love and compassion, with perhaps a reference to Jesus or God would come across better. What do you think?

Is that what I am being told here? There is no difference between faith, as in faith in an observable object, and faith, as in faith in a supreme being?

Taking the Bible as a whole, not taking one verse or passage and adapting it to fit my needs, it seems to me that he did. He created man in his own image which seems to mean he gave us the right to choose. Then he didn't like the choices we were making and flooded all but one family. (erasing a mistake?) Then he made Ten Commandments which he replaced with his Son and now Christians have only one commandment - BELIEVE. (erasing another mistake?)

they are the only and true religion and will fight tooth and nail to proove it regardless of how many people they hurt on the way.

Surely that is what turns people away from practising any sort of religion.

Look what religion has done to our earth, the wars and the famine etc.

Why can't we just live in harmony with the morals we have been taught and accept everyone at face value.

I truely don't believe that I will be going to hell because I am moving away from a religion that brainwashed me when I was young.
My religious upbringing has a lot to answer to.

I have this big ugly mustard stain on my new white shirt. Unfortunately, I don't have enough money right now to go to the laundrymat. I need to have this shirt cleaned. Which will get my shirt cleaned faster... Praying to a "god" for a clean shirt, or scrounging money from people to go to the laundrymat?

Prompted by an insightful question by the very honourable Jim Darwin, I propose that creationists are the devil's pawns, since they seek to deceive people to follow their man-made false beliefs, instead of accepting the direct evidence of god's own handiwork - The nature of living organisms themselves, as revealed by many different kinds of evidence, which all testify to any honest person the evolutionary origins of life.

Should we therefore castigate creationists as the enemies of God, and followers of The Horn-ed, Pointy-Tailed One ...?

When Jesus went into the wilderness He was tempted by Satan. One of these temptations was .{ Satan speaking } If you are the Son of God make an act of woship to me and I will give you all of the kingdoms of the earth! If Satan is not in control over the earth how could he offer it to Jesus.
