Firstly forget politics out of this and talk ab religion. The word bible isnt even in the bible, so there begins the human fabrication, how can someone claim its the word of God if it was changed so much by humans. The New Testament was written 200 years after Jesus(pbuh) died and in a language he didnt even speak. Jesus didnt even call himself a christian(another fabrication). In the Bible Jesus predicted that ppl would worship in vain, "But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." This verse, Matthew 15:9. Which is the true one. Why are there so many mistakes in the bible surely this cannot be attributed to God (e.g. of conflicting verses II Samuel 6:23 Genesis 6:3 John 5:37). Lastly i dont understand how christians can claim monotheism when they worship jesus and God, how can he be the Son of God and God at the same time this is the biggest contradiction. Would a true believer ask God why he has forsaken him, how did he talk to God(if hes God)

I am a muslim and I believe in Jesus as a prophet and in the Bible (not the Bible that we have now, for it is pretty changed, but the original one from Jesus). Most christians believe in the Trinity: the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. We know that Jesus called for monotheism, but the Trinity is believing in those three. If God the Father is Omnipotent, why should I worship something else? Some try to explain it in terms of an egg which consists of three elements but still make up one whole thing. But if there wasn't its shell, there wouldn't be an egg. We can't say that there wouldn't be God, if there wasn't Jesus, can we?
Second, if Jesus is Son of God, how can he be God himself. Any logic? Some try to explain it by the divinity of his birth. What about Adam? He didn't have not only a father, but he didn't have a mother either. Why isn't he a God, or God's son?

I am aware of the fact that 99 out of every 100 people are basicly good people. Nice, loving people, no matter from what culture, race, gender or religion they are.

I'm very interested in what causes what I call the 'dark side of religion'. What happened to a person before he starts to condemn gay people based on an old book? What happened to a person's brain before he kills himself and others in the name of his/her God? What happened to a person's brain before he confuses his/her imagination with the so called one and only truth? Those sorts of things I truly wonder about.

Most of the answers I get start with 'they don't all do that'. For some that's even the full message of their answer. I don't even get how that _is_ an answer.

What has happened to this planet if the basic assumption is that everybody generalizes?

this is for anyone....

what reading, study, research, personal experiences, ect has caused you to belive the things you do? wether its atheist or christian or whatever, obviously SOMETHING lead you to belive as you do.

and remember that an atheist saying "because its just not real" without further explanation is no different than a religious person saying "it just is real" or whatever, if not supported by other info.

I ask, because I've seen people post, seemingly honestly, things that through personal experience, I know to be untrue, and I am boggled by how people can belive these things.

Theroy:
1.) A coherant group of general propositions used as principals of explanation for a class of phenomena (idea, proposition)
2.) A proposed explanation whose status is still conjectural in contrast to well established propositions that are regarded as reporting matters of actual fact.
3.) Contemplation or speculation.

Faith:
1.) Confidence in a person, thing or Idea.
2.) Belief that is not based on proof
3.) Belief in ANYTHING ..code of ethics, teachings, religions
4.) The obligation of loyalty or fidelity to a person, promise etc. and the observance of it.

Ever heard the quote .. "In faith, in theroy? or In faith, in truth?

I have seen a lot of athiests on this board attack "religious" minded people for their Faith. Yet, by definition you as an athiest have a Faith too... so you are in a way attacking your own belief system.
I see the opposite too.. a lot of Christians attack athiests for their lack of faith.. when in fact they have a faith... just not

One of the greatest geniuses of our world was Albert Einstein, which rejected the concept of a personal God referred to in bible and other religions with similar beliefs. I don’t understand how anyone can believe in the bible, Qu’ran, or whatever other theistic belief based religion. Along with all of the silly stories in the bible come a load of other contradicting ideas and writings. Along with this comes the belief in a soul/free will dogmatically. I’m a psychology major and also have done enough research to conclude that religion is just a history of man trying to explain the unknowns of our world.

A historian should be able to pick up on the consistent growth of the world’s religions with the changing times and the way man adjusts the characteristics of their deity’s to suit their new found lifestyles. The history of the writing of the bible. The obvious decline of poly-theistic based cultures from history. A biologist would understand the inner most minute processes of our bodies and conclude that divine intervention has no place in the miraculous ‘curing’ of some people.

The processes of decision making is a brain process that does not involve a soul or ghost in a machine that hits the execute button. Studies, research, and other findings have documented how we make decisions and certain areas of the brain are active at the time. Strangely enough, our conscious mind becomes aware of our final decision micro-milla-seconds after our actual decision is made. Although all of the knowledge we have is subjectable in neurophysiology and the soft sciences, it is still evident that it makes a whole lot more sense than some magical soul. Everything we do just lines up with the theory’s so well that there is no room for a personal God anymore. The school of common sense would reveal what I know.

Disregarding all of the complex ideas of defense mechanisms and the nature of human beings to protect themselves from any mentally diminishing thoughts; it is evident why people still believe in the rigid and illogical concepts of God. It is the fear of the unknown, death, and mental freedom. People feel as if without a God there is no guide for their journey through life. When they are hopelessly upset and alone there is a father figure in the sky that will wipe their tears away and grant them invincibility. However, one can’t deny the justifications against these beliefs, and the logic that does not align with the concept of God. It seems that people do not apply rationalizations when it comes to their own personal and indulging beliefs.

Someone once left this quote on one of my questions; “And man created God in His Image”

A really educational book; The Blank Slate by Steven Pinker.

I can not understand why a muslim family would like to live in the USA. I am going to put some reasons why I think that you would not like it, and maybe you could explain why you came to the USA to live.
The culture in the USA if completely different from Islam.
The dress styles are different and muslims stand our as unusual, esp the women
The laws are not sharia law and will never be.
The schools teach completely different from an Islamic country.
Your children will eventually leave their Islamic culture.

Now tell me why you want to live in the USA?

A 'fishy' tale?
In the years following the ascension of the resurrected Jesus to heaven, the Christian church grew rapidly.
Christians soon found themselves to be the subjects of persecution by both the Romans and the Jews.
In many locales, it became dangerous to be known as a Christian.
Thus, when two strangers met and thought maybe they were fellow believers, one of them would draw, on the ground, the upper half of the fish symbol.
.
Recognizing the symbol, the stranger would add a second curved line and complete the drawing of a fish.
.
It is a very simple shape to draw - just two curved strokes. It could be drawn quickly, and erased just as quickly if there was no sign of recognition on the part of the stranger.

Believers of religion don't seem to be able to differentiate between reality and fiction. Their arguments are all based on a fictional book. They follow a hypocritical organisation, corrupted with paedophiles, violence, control, and brainwashing. Nothing seems to be questioned, even when the evidence of this corruption is there.
It seems to me that there are a great deal of mental problems with people that can't see this!
