Lent starts on Ash Wednesday, lasts 40 days not counting Sundays and ends on Holy Saturday, the day before Easter.
In 2007, Ash Wednesday will fall on February 21 and Easter on April 8.

Easter Sunday is always the first Sunday after the first full moon after the first day of Spring. Count backwards 40 days (not including Sundays) and you will have the date for Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent.

It starts the day after Mardi Gras (which meants Fat Tuesday). The next day is Ash Wednesday. I think it goes 40 days after that... but I'm not sure on that.
