King James Version of the bible

In man's attempts to make things easier to understand they continually print new versions of the bible. I read only the KJV because I believe that we should leave the word of God as it is. I understand that even the KJV is not the oldest version, but it is as close as I have now. I really don't believe man should print new versions of God's word, to me they are taking it upon themselves to tell us what the scripture means and who is to say what they think it means is what God ment for it to mean. It is no different than you or I reading a scripture and giving our opinion or interpretation of it, mine may not be the same as yours. The scholars giving the interpretations for the new versions of the bible may not have the correct interpretation either. I say we just leave it alone, read it and pray for God to give us understanding. He did say to ask and ye shall receive. He will let us understand exactly what he wants in his own good time. There is certainly nothing wrong with the KJV. In fact, it is the oldest english translation of the Bible. I'd say more people have been won to Christ from the KJV than any other english translation.
The thing is we don't talk in the KJ language anymore. Words have changed and the meaning of certain words have changed. I suggest you get a generally accepted modern translation that is easy to understand. Then consider what is called a "study Bible"—that is, a Bible that also includes helpful notes and articles explaining each book or passage.

It's an OK translation, but I prefer a translation that uses todays wording, remember KJV is 400+ years old. A modern transalation would use words we are familiar with not to mention be more accurate as we have a better understanding of Ancient Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek then they did 400 years ago. I prefer the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures as it also puts God's name Jehovah back in the more than 6000 places in the Scriptures that it belongs in. With God's name in the Bible Scriptures that many times, it shows the importance of knowing his name.

because there are plenty of reliable bibles out there that are much easier to understand. the New King James Version is an outstanding bible, the New International study bible is one of the best bibles you can get for indepth study of the word of God. The KJV is an outstanding bible, but harder to understand because no-one speaks like that any more. It was like in King James time the equivelent of the new NIV in todays time. translated to the current speach of the time so it was easily understood. No real need to stay a couple of hundred years in the past when we have bibles translated that have the same message in a more recent dialect.

For one thing, the KJV is riddled with words that meant something entirely different when they were first used than now. Secondly, it's difficult for a lot of people to understand the language, and last but not least, it's not accurate enough to be a good study Bible in terms of its fidelity to the original languages.
Don't get me wrong -- I love the KJV. The language is beautiful, and most of the verses I've memorized are from that translation. But for ease of reading and comprehension, there are better choices, especially for new believers.

Simply a matter of preference. I know many who do read it. There are several more modern translations which fit our modern vocabulary, but many do like the KJV.

Why would I want to read a bible that's not in my language which is modern English?

For one thing, it's nearly incomprehensible to someone unused to reading it. So people who prefer to read things in normal English might prefer other versions.
Also, I'm Pagan. ^^ So I don't read the Bible anymore anyway.

KJV is my favorite because I believe it is the most accurate translation. I also own: NKJV,NIV,NASB,TEV, and Amplified.
