they are the only and true religion and will fight tooth and nail to proove it regardless of how many people they hurt on the way.

Surely that is what turns people away from practising any sort of religion.

Look what religion has done to our earth, the wars and the famine etc.

Why can't we just live in harmony with the morals we have been taught and accept everyone at face value.

I truely don't believe that I will be going to hell because I am moving away from a religion that brainwashed me when I was young.
My religious upbringing has a lot to answer to.

to the "Born again christian" the morals that I learnt did partly come from religion but mainly from being and living and learning and growing.

And...."son shine" bloody oath I've been hurt, I feel guilt when I really shouldn't and I owe it all to religion. Part of the brainwashing.

There is famine in our world because the religious leaders who have wealth will not share it with the poorer countries.

You just have to look at the Pope and how he lives in the Vatican. He is so wealthy he has his own little country.
Just outside the vatican gates there are poor and hungry people begging.
I just can't understand this.

I have read the bible and it's very scarey. When I question parts I am told "Oh don't take any notice of that part it's the old testament" It seems to me that you pick and choose what you want to believe in.

Hey "mido" I have read parts of the Qur'an and I was disgusted and thankful I as a woman don't have to put up with those teachings.
As far as no religion in WW11, why did the Germans kill all the Jews, didn't he pick on a religion?

I thank all of you for your answers and I am extra thankful for those who didn't preach to me.
I did read all of them and I would like you to know I had a Catholic upbringing and was treated very cruely by nuns. I will never forget what they did but I do forgive them. I want to live my life as close to my own beliefs as possible and I wish no harm on anyone but I also want to be understood.
I can't possibly pick the best answer as you all put a lot of thought into it so I will leave it to a vote. Again thank you all and I'm not such a bad person because of what I believe or don't believe in.

Whatever you do - don't turn your back on God. It is the wrong move to make.

Not all religions are bad. You are being a bigot to generalize against all religions. There is one religion that is always in the news everytime that an act of terrorism happens in the world. I think you know which one it is.

As far as being a true religion. If someone doesn't believe that their religion is true then why would they be that religion?

For the response from unicorn below, I meant to give a thumbs up. But I accidently clicked the thumbs down by mistake. Sorry about that unicorn.

I think you have been hurt and you need to seek the reason for your hurt instead of placing blame on religion or religious people. Unless you were abused by a religious person or harmed in some way. However, if that is the reason for your anger and hurt, the person who hurt you will have to answer to God for what they have done. Not all religious people are the fault for the problem you went through. Place the blame where it should be instead of inflicting others who aren't responsible. Seek counseling for your hurt and pain.

there is only one true church,we know this from examining the bible, god founded only one universal church and one universal truth. some people go overboard and yes they can push people further away rather than drawing them closer, but brainwashing is not something the catholic church does to its followers(I'm assuming that is the church you are alluding to of your childhood). the teachings are hard to practice and understand but is worthwhile in the end and helps us live better lives. if you want to just live your live without the truth and love of god then that is your choice no one is going to force you into anything else, that is your free will. whether or not you go to hell will be determined by god and i of course wish the best for you and that you find your way to heaven,as i do for everyone else. however the religion you followed as a child has nothing to answer for,if you took time to fully understand that religion you would find many graces. take care and god bless.

Well I would not step away from Jesus, but I have been in your shoes and that is why I do not attend any organized religion. I read the bible and walk my own walk of faith. I guess you could simply say I am a Jesusian. I believe the bible but man is way to easy to sway. And so easily misrepresent , or misinterpret, yet still try to teach the gospel that I have lost faith in man. If you lose everything except your faith, you have lost nothing. If you lose your faith you have lost everything.

Religious upbringing can cause a lot of pain for people. Don't give up on the one true creator God of the Bible, just because of your upbringing. God has given you the power of choice and your free will. You can still choose your own destiny in spite of a problem upbringing, right?

If you study the Bible for yourself and come to your own beliefs then stick with what you've learned. Just remember to pray for God's spirit to guide you before you open His word. Because only God's Spirit can teach you spiritual truths. The criteria for "Going to hell" is turning your back on God not changing "Religions" however if God leads you into a truth and you don't make adjustments to study it out and draw conclusions about that truth then you are rejecting it and Him who gave it. If your conclusions are different than what you've been taught that doesn't mean that you are wrong it just means God hasn't convinced you differently. Until you are convinced in your heart of something it is not wrong if you don't follow it. Try link below to assist in your studying. may our God richly bless you.

God is life.Everything comes from god because he is absolute, nothing can exist outside of him.Religions are like spokes in a bicycle wheel, the center part of the wheel is god. There is only one god.Doesn't matter what name you know him/her by.He is the same (JESUS,JEHOVAH,YAHWEH,JAH,ETC.ETC..) Just names made up by mankind. To thine own self be true, know that god is light and he is always with you.Only in despair do we call upon him when he is with us every second of our life.Enjoy life don't try to find meaning for life or go on quests looking for god.It would be like a dog chasing it's tail.

I believe that who is not Muslim and knew the truth about Islam is going to hell..but I don't fight him because he is going to hell..God said in the Qur'an:
There is no compulsion in religion. The right direction is henceforth distinct from error. And he who rejecteth false deities and believeth in Allah hath grasped a firm handhold which will never break. Allah is Hearer, Knower. "2' 256"

And the wars were not because of the religion but because of the people who explain religion as they like and base their wars on religion..while their religion doesn't jusify their acts just like 9/11..

And tell me if WWII had anything to religion..
it is the greed in people's hearts and the desire to overcome the world.

I think if people would put there trust in God and stop following religion we would all be better off,Read the bible for yourself and stop listing to man's interpretation of his word,If God is big enough to do what he has done surely he can open his word up to someone heart so they can see it for them self's
