Holidays - December 2006

I would cook a big dinner at home at x'mas eve, and probably would go to shopping mall the next day and watch a good dvd at home. does this sound boring???

Ok, all you children lovers will be upset, but I'm posting anyway.
My husband and I have a NYE party every year. It is an open house from 6pm until whenever. We invite LOTS of people, even though the house is small. Some our friends have kids (we do not) I would LOVE not to have them, but I know it is hard to get a sitter that day. I have let the kids come in the past. Last year some of these DARLINGS broke the bathroom sliding door and spilled SEVERAL things on my carpet. They will be attending this year I'm afraid. How do I tell the parents (who seem to be oblivious to their beloved children) to watch the kids without sounding like a *****?

It came in a gift box but that will be obvious as to what it is and I want to wrap it more unique, not just putting it in a gift bag, but I've used all of my wrapping ideas on other gifts, does anyone have any suggestions, something that will make him have no clue what it is?

Yeah... Trying to find something to do in Nashville, TN on New Year's Eve. My fiancee and my best friend and I are trying to make plans, but are not having much luck with finding anything. We really don't want to spend more than $50 each on the evening. We're also middle aged, so "partying" with a bunch of college kids won't be ideal for us. Dinner is a definite, but then what?
