My Christmas starts the week before. I start baking all week, shopping here and there. Christmas eve we go to my families house for the night, open presents and then sometimes go to midnight service at church. Then come home and play Santa all night putting toys together and stockings together as well (for 6 or more people this year is 8). Christmas morning up early before the sun opening stockings, making coffee and breakfast. Then we sing happy birthday Jesus. After that we all get dressed, open presents and play for a couple of hours. This year we are cooking dinner at our house so I suppose that will start about 9am. Dinner is at 4 and family will be here about 12. We read Luke 14, pray, eat dinner open presents and then everyone leaves.
Sounds hectic but it isn't, there is plenty of fun and love and lots of smiles and toys.

I've waited so long for this ...
I am FINALLY an empty nesting single Retiree (after being a long term single parent of two disabled children) so ...
I am going to wake up later than 4:30AM (Finally!)
I am going to be able to SIT DOWN and enjoy the Peace and Quiet
I am NOT going to be tied down cleaning, cooking, picking up, doing dishes or laundry, or any other hard work
I am going to fix a MEAL for ONE and ONLY ONE!
I am going to pick up the Control and tune my TV and DVD player to what I WANT to Watch (and not have to deal with everyone else being selfish and not caring)
and I WILL be cosy in my warm heated throw, reading a book and just relaxing for once!

No it doesn't sound boring if you have no family to visit.
On christmas my husband, 2 boys, and myself open presents after breakfast. We eat a big dinner on Christmas eve also.

I would like to just have a quiet evening at home, but I got invited to go everywhere this year. Maybe I'll catch 24 hour leprosy or something that day so I can call them off and stay at home. : )
