The holidays can be sad and stressful for some people, especially if they have lost loved ones during the year. There are many reasons why people dread the holidays. Some families do not get along with each other, so the annual gatherings can be noisy and stressful. Children and pets even feel the anxiety, and can sometimes become ill as a result. If you are one of those unfortunate people who hates the holidays, why not change the way you celebrate? If you hate family gatherings, spend the holiday with friends, or even by yourself. Whatever it is that is making you wish the season would end, can be changed or eliminated. You might offend certain people, but if you don't get along with them, why worry about it. The operative word is pleasing yourself. That's not being selfish, it's preserving your peace of mind. Do what pleases you, and let the other stuff go. When Christmas becomes less of a burden for you, you might actually end up enjoying it and looking forward to it. Good luck!

Yep.

because I have to travel when I don't want to, because of other family health issues, and because my spouse truly needs a stress free vacation - and that's just not happening this year like it has in the past.
