I'm going to my first Christmas do next week and I've been told we have to get a £1 most useful gift. I don't really get it, but any ideas for what I could get? Don't want the obvious (already dismissed idea of a bottle opener, condoms, earplugs etc.). They are all teachers by the way.

Couple of times I spent my winter holiday in Serbia with a part of my family and friends. They celebrate the orthodox Christmas on January 7 and I noticed they have many beautiful and interesting traditions usually kept and respected by women. However, last time I was there I felt it too political, to nationalistic and too macho. Every dinner my husband and me were invited to, turned to an unpleasant political discussion ran by men. Also, I heard some guys celebrated it on their own way – shooting from their guns on the very Christmas Eve. No magic, no sparkling, just one girl shot in front of the church. The only things that I appreciated were the great efforts of Serbian women preparing the meals, cleaning the house and opening them for the guests. And after all they do, the man should be the first who enter ones house, otherwise, the bad luck will follow this family. At the end, I saw those women resigned, exhausted and unconcerned by

I don`t know if it`s a keeping up with the Jones`s thing or they`re a bunch of big kids but you can probably see this street from the outer stratosphere more lights outside than Backpool not to mention mention 10 ft high homer simpson santa`s ,life size sleighs and full teams of reindeers and gangs of giant snow men

I see alot of kids on here asking what to get moms for Christmas. I think all mothers would agree it's the thought that counts.I am a mother myself,35 years old.Two beautiful girls 16 & 13. My mom died in 1994 from a battle with breast cancer. I know just having all her children together,being healthy and happy was good enough for her. As I feel the same way. I remember and so did she, once when my brother was around 7(he is now 34 and a father of 4 kids),we got to go shopping with the school. He had bought her a pink razor,you know the bic ones,that had 6 sides,and he just thought it was the most wonderful thing ever(mainly becuase it was pink),,,,,and so did my mother.Live this day as if it was you last. As a Mother or Child this year think about the fondest memories and if they were no tomorrow what would yours be?

this year, I have to do a secret santa thing. As a high school boy I am totally oblivious as to what to do. Supposedly I have to do small things for the person I have and finally give a gift at the end of two weeks. I will get the person's locker combo (might be a guy or a girl). From there, I am not sure what to do. What little things can I do for him or her during the two weeks. Build a snowman in front of their house? Leave cookies in the locker? I need some new ideas! Thanks!
