I wished one of my friends a Happy Yom Kippur thinking that it was a sacred Holiday, but I later found out it is a day of forgiveness and atonement.

I didn't mean to be disrespectful or hurt her in anyway.

What should I do?

Blah, blah, blah, fasting is bad. Yeah.
Any suggestions on books to read or single/two player card games? Or anything else I can do, besides nap? I might be away at the makeshift temple meeting place all day...

I'm not Jewish, but that doesn't mean I've never been owed an apology by someone who is. I think this is a great holiday and I'm even going to do it myself this year.

Do most Jews just not think to extend the practice to non-Jews? Or is there a more specific reason?

Sorry this sounds so arrogant, haha.

How does one ask forgiveness or make amends with a family that has been abusive or hurtful? What if the abusive family cuts you off (has nothing to do with you) because you reported someone to social services for child abuse? How do you make peace with these events in your life when you have to avoid the people who have hurt you?

I have a fish tank in my house and I was just wondering if it is permissible to put your sins in the fish tank. Are there any specific metric measurements in the Torah?

Sensible and thoughtful answers please

personally, i fast, because i want to show G-d that i ask for forgiveness and to be inscribed in the Book of Life.

Also, if you are going to joke around or say something stupid or offensive, then don't bother answering, cuz its really gay.
