I have a fish tank in my house and I was just wondering if it is permissible to put your sins in the fish tank. Are there any specific metric measurements in the Torah?

Sensible and thoughtful answers please

Has to be a "living body" of water, that is, something that has fresh water coming in, like when it rains. So, a stream, lake, ocean or river would work, or even a creek. I suppose technically you could use a rain barrel if it was outside, but it needs to have water flowing in and out.

I agree with the other answers, in general: a flowing body of water must be used. I can't imagine throwing my sins into a lake or a tank to stagnate and rot for years to come, or even to be eaten by fish. It's much more symbolic when your sins are washed away from a stream or river, and carried far away into the sea. It's a connection to God in this way, a symbol of reaching the vast and powerful--the ocean--through a small conduit--a tiny trickle of moving water. The process makes you realize that, even when you feel you're insignificant, it is possible to reach Adonai.

Running water is most common when talking about throwing you sins into water ex. Rivers, Streams, Oceans, etc. And also when living creatures are in the water, that signifies life, or something. A river with fish or something would do.

Well a lake or a river is a great place. It has to be big enought to walk around and that is a natural area and a fish tank is a artificial.

No, a fish tank isn't okay. (If you're joking, nice one.)

You should use any running body of water, it carries your sins away. And it should be outside, no putting your sins down the toilet or bathtub drain.

a river ... because it flows away so you are relieving your sins by letting them go far away from as compared to a lake or a non moving body of water

the body of water must have new sources to wash the "sins" away.

yes u can the idea is to let the fish eat it (bread) so then you cant find it (sins) and that makes them lost so u dont own them.
