Of course I fast ! Yom Kippur fast is an important part of observing this holy day. Because Yom Kippur is a day of self-denial, Jewish people must abstain from the pleasure of food and focus instead on repentance.
Instructions

* STEP 1: Eat a meal before sunset on the day before Yom Kippur.
* STEP 2: Abstain from any food or water until sunset on Yom Kippur, if you are a healthy adult and are not pregnant or nursing. Some people modify the fast by abstaining from food but allowing water.
* STEP 3: Avoid work and activity, and spend the day quietly reflecting on the sins of the past year.
* STEP 4: Gather with your friends and family after sundown to break the fast. Say a Hamotzi (blessing) over the bread, and serve light foods that are easy to digest.

Tips & Warnings

* Cut back on caffeine a few days before the fast to avoid withdrawal symptoms such as headaches and irritability.

I fast for Yom Kippur. It's a way to start the new year fresh, with nothing in you or over your head. I spend the days of awe talking to the people I've wronged. I like the idea of getting a fresh start and that goes with my belly.

Well personally i fast. But i go to school.Because some conservadox jews believe we should go on with daily life while we fast. But for one the two things you said that you would like to be inscribe in the book of life and that you ask for g`d's forgivness is all right. But we also fast so that g`d can clean our sins.I personally say personal prayers at home on yom kippur because when you are at shul you are by distracted by others davening. So i would pray at home to connect with g`d silently.Hope you have a good pesach.Shabbat Shalom.

I don't fast on Yom Kippur because it isn't part of my religion. However, I don't think I could do it even if I chose to...I've only been able to go about one day without eating. I don't see how people do it, but I imagine that it takes a lot of willpower.

I fast for Yom Kippur, and I don't go to school. I spend all day in services. For me, it's very important, and a very spiritual day. I feel very close to G-d when saying Avienu Malkenu, and the other piyyutim. It's a very special and holy day in my year.

Of course I do! It is the most important day on the Jewish calendar, and how you act on Yom Kippur depends on your fate for the rest of the year! I like to show G-d that I really do regret my sins and would like to be forgiven! Fasting is a crucial part of the day because that is the one thing that actually shows your sincerity! Take care!

I don't fast because It is not my religion. I am part Jewish, but My grandfather never passed his Jewish beliefs to my mother so I grew up not celebrating Yom Kippur. Go figure!

i fast because you are supposed too. i dont get why we should fast though.
because one the reasons for fasting is so you dont think about food. but when i fast for 24 hours i think about when it is over so i can eat.
so of course we are not as great as the rabbis of the talmudic times. so i dont get y i am doing it but i do it
