I am planning on hosting a Halloween party this October, and I need some cool ideas. Not everyone who is coming is 21. I don't want my party to turn out totally lame, but I also don't want people puking all over my couch, so what sort of things can I do? Are costume parties still cool? Haunted houses?

What more of a way to celebrate our independence from an island three thousand miles away then going there to remind them in person!

I remember going trick or treating as Alf one year in the mid 80s when that show was popular. That's about as wild as it got for me!

This seems like a random question but it is a legitiamate one. Every year "Christ" is taken out of Christmas more and more. I work at the mall and I am not even allowed to say "Merry Christmas" I have to say "Happy Holidays" or something. They are calling Christmas trees "Holiday Trees". It is even getting to the point where some people want to change the name of the holiday all together.

My question is this:
1. To the millions of people who do not celebrate Christmas in the traditional sense (Jesus' Birthday), why celebrate it at all?

2. Why do you then get so offended by the word "Christmas"?
How comes I don't hear anyone complaining about Ramadan or Yom Kippur?

3. What difference does it make if it is called a "Christmas tree"

As you can see all these questions have the same theme, so answer in your own way!

My finance and I will be married in 3 weeks.

My family is very small (my parents, my younger brother and my grandmother). None of these people have any other place to gather on holidays.

My fiance's family is large. There are a lot of people that gather for his holidays.

My mother usually has her holiday at 2 p.m., which makes it almost impossible to go to any other occassion. This Christmas his family rearranged their holiday so that I could be present.

I don't want to be a couple that spends holidays apart, especially once we have children.

Any suggestions on how to deal with this. I know my mother will make it very stressful on us. She will act as if his family is more important than mine if we don't come to her gathering when she wants to schedule it.

How can I deal with this without hurting anyone's feelings??
