I remember going trick or treating as Alf one year in the mid 80s when that show was popular. That's about as wild as it got for me!

When my daughter was about 8 years old, I asked her what kind of costume she'd like. She said, "I want to be a refrigerator."

So I made a little regrigerator out of a box painted white. It hung over her like a sandwich sign and had a door that you could open up to see (empty) packages of food, milk, etc. And of course the front of the door had a few magnets, kids' drawings, etc. She loved it and won a prize for best costume!

My mom bought me a costume one year (that was a BIG thing, usually they were homemade!) & it was the most awesome skeleton costume I've ever seen, before or since! The outfit was black with the bones on the fabric & a really frightening skull mask - in the dark, all you saw comin at you was bones! This would have been 1970 or thereabouts, so it was really nifty for the time. Anyway, it remains my fav to this day. I'm hoping to be Glinda the good witch this year! (yeah, I still dress up!!!)
Trick or Treat!! have fun!

I was an ancient egyptian. Had a black wig, a gold beaded headpiece over it, gold sandals, gold coin necklace (more for a gypsy costume but it still worked), gold arm bands that had fake snakes w/ green jeweled eyes coming off them. My mom & I found a dress & stuff at goodwill that we altered. It actually turned out pretty cool! I still have some of the stuff to this day.

I was a regular person. I used to love wearing weird clothes every day, so I figured just showing up in jeans and a T would be costume enough.

My older sisters and I were the three witches from Macbeth. We were about age 8, 7 and 4 at the time.

One year I was a cactus, one year a mime, one year a court jester. My sister probably had the best one though, she was a bag of jelly beans. We put a bunch of blown of up water balloons inside a clear garbage bag that she wore.
