No, gift cards are not a bad idea. It is actually a safe way to avoid getting someone a terrible gift. They are in control of what they get when you give a gift card. Make it like an American Express gift card so they are not too limited as to where they shop.

I'm kind of divided on this one. It lets the person know what you spend (which I don't like). But some people love to shop, so giving the gift of shopping is good. For people with little cash flow, it does help them out. If you're simply lazy and don't want to think, buying a gift card is not a good thing. I guess it boils down to the motivation behind it.

No,not at all!! Think about if it was you. Would you rather have some cheesy gift that you know you will never use or a gift card so you can get something you will enjoy? I would get a personal Hallmark card and put the gift card inside of it though. It lets them know you took the time to find them that "special" card. Merry Christmas to you!!!

Gift cards are a really good idea because most when they go to buy a gift for someone they always get them something that they think they would like/ a gift that they want them to like and Gift cards let them get what they want and not what u think they'll like.

I would say pick up some little silly type of thing to go with the gift card. Like if you get a bookstore gift card, also get one book you think they might like, and give that. Or a cool bookmark. Or a booklight. That way, it shows you put thought into it, while still letting them get something they truly like for themselves.

Gift Cards are a good christmas presents for everyone because you know what shop they are buying it from and you know they wont spend the money on anything useless. Some good sites are :

For all of those all you have to do is enter your email address or zip code and reply back to them and you will receive a gift card from those stores free of charge, I got my old navy one from there and it was totally worth it.

I think gift cards are a great idea only if you know what they like if you buy one that is to be used at a certain retailer. For all else, go with a Visa gift card if you are unsure.

I think they're really impersonal and that you didn't take the time to figure out what someone would like. Most people would rather give and receive tangible gifts that they can unwrap, not a card.

If it is a fmaily member you don't see very often or they live in another state and have to say fly home I think they are wonderful. If you know them well then they are bad, I also think that when doing a "family stocking/Santa" thing for a big family they are a wonderful idea too
