What would you do if you had an annoying co-worker who ALWAYS comes into your office to talk. She is NEVER at her desk, she is always wandering around the whole entire office (I'm not the only one who has noticed this). She will come into my office and look at my computer screen and comment on what I'm doing. She will also read stuff that is laying on my desk, and make comments.
It's soooooooooooo annoying. I don't want to tell her to go away or confront her personally about it. Any good suggestions on what I can do?

I try to just not prolong the conversation and act really busy - but that doesn't seem to work.

She will come into my office about 2-3 times an hour!

HELP!!!!!!!

He is a very good friend of mine. His wife and kid are not in town. We meet up for a dinner/lunch/movies sometimes, but meetings have always been outside. I have felt like inviting him for a homemade dinner(nighttime), but since I live by myself, and his wife isn't around - would it still be appropriate?

And no, he is strictly a platonic good friend with no hints of anything fishy whatsoever.

I am just not sure if his wife will be OK with it (I have not gotten a chance to know her very well - just met her once on their wedding day), and if overall, technicall speaking, such a thing is no big deal and I should go ahead.

On 2nd thoughts, maybe I should call him for lunch on a weekend instead of dinner.

instead of just a note from them to catch up with each other? I cant stand getting forwarded email having to go thru dozens of names when it's usually something stupid, religious or a pass-it-on...

I want to surprise my wife today and get her something just because. I have gotten her flowers in the past, but I was thinking of maybe doing something that will really surprise her. What could I buy that is about the same price range and will mean something?

I am a middle aged person and have noticed a continuing decrease in friendliness. The people who are the least friendly are the people in the 25-35 age group. I think they are brought up in an suspicious era where people do not trust each other. They in turn will only be friendly to someone they know well or someone who can help them.

My generation is more open to strangers and are more trusting in general. We are more open to small talk with people we do not know. My parents generation is even nicer. They knew their next door neighbors and were open to each other.

Is America getting more unfriendly?

I'm at work right now and I had a fart and tried to push it. When I did my backside got wet and warm real fast. I'm not sure how I'm going to make it to the bathroom because I just got off my lunch break not too long again and I fear this will drip down my legs and make a trail. What can I do?

An old college friend and I have started to email each other, although I'm not sure "where it's at" right now. I think we're trying to figure out if there's a spark?

Besides being myself, what should I write to make the letter more attractive to him? I don't want to just seem "friendly" yet I don't want to be over-the-top or desperate. He's written a couple of long letters to me and made a lot suggestions to meet, altho. that has yet to happen. I've always made the mistake of being too "open" in the past so I want to leave him intrigued at least a little.

PS. Is there a rule about how long I should wait btwn emails?

Thanks!

I'm biracial (a minority nonetheless)....

and she always treated me with great disrespect, but I never cared because she was from *that generation*, so i pooh poohed it....

Now she's dying, and isn't expected to live. Everyone is visiting her in the hospital and my boss is asking me if I am going.....I never liked her and she never liked me...it BURNED HER UP when I bought a house in an exclusive neighborhood (which BTW she lives in too)

Should I visit her?

A few weeks ago, Co-worker A told me that Co-worker B is from Costa Rica.

So last night when Co-worker B mentioned going back to El Salvador, I said, "I thought you were from Costa Rica." He looked at me with a murderous expression, walked away, and didn't speak to me for the rest of the night.

Did I commit some sort of major faux pas? And what do I say tomorrow that won't do further damage?

Some questions are put out there just to get a reaction out of you, especially the ones that offer way too much information yet ask "what do I do?" Do you pass them by or give in and say something nasty? The other day I read one where he/she said they walked in to their daughter's room to find her humping their dog, what would you say to that?

At times, I do not speak clearly. And even though I mostly know my grammar, I don't always use it when I speak.

People look at me like they are annoyed and treat me as if I am dumb at times.

This happens mostly when I am nervous and to people I don't know and at interviews and meetings.
Also in social settings with people I don't know.
Why are people so annoyed at me?. I can't always help it.

Yep, thats what she asked me for. Would it be unethical for me to buy it for her? (no friend of mine bought me a vibrator until I was 18, and it was more like a gag gift). What would you do in this situation?

it has always puzzled me why men find it neccesary to wear such heavy clothing i.e. vest; shirt; tie;jacket; when going out to Dinner, when their partner finds it quite warm enough to wear nothing more than a dress almost stripped to her waist.

My first memory in life is when I was 3 years old, i was at my aunts house, she was having a big party and it was dark, i remember feeling scared and crying for my mother,, my mom picked me up and everyone including my aunt was lauging on the top of their lungs, my aunt said "WOW You shouldnt have picked her up, shes 3 too old and your babying her"
I remember feeling awful..
Then when my aunt used to drive to our neighborhood, shed start laughing out loud and making fun of our neighborhood, (we lived in a lower income area of the city shes from an affluent area)she say ""like "HAHAH OMG look at these shops, Johns Fried Chicken,HAHA do you eat there"? or "OMG I SEE A WHITE PERSON"" "OMG look how filthy the streets are,, OMG Joses Pizza, HAHAHAHAHA"

It took a major toll on my self esteem.. Then everytime id go to her house shed say "DONT YOU WANT TO LIVE HERE"?
Also when i was 7 yrs old i was chubby, she made me get on a scale in front of the whole family, they all laughed and called me

I work with this woman who is a two faced, social climbing, judgemental, spiteful, brown-nosing old cow and she really annoys me. I find her annoyingness has a cumulative effect, rather than it just going away at the end of the day. She talks about her kids (who are my age, in their 20s) ALL THE TIME and while I try not to listen, she repeats the kid stories to EVERYONE who comes in, so I hear them about 20 times. Some nights I wake up at 3am or so thinking of her kids. This wouldnt be so bad but she is mean and purposely tries to make me feel bad ie if I have something new, then she'll say something like "ohh (daughter's name) was never into that thank goodness she was always very mature about spending her money", or "well actually my daugther is getting THIS one as she makes $200 a day you know and only wants the best" and crap like this.

Do other people have these issues at work? How do you deal with them? Is it ok to punch her? lol

My boyfriend and I have such different food tastes. I go for the absolute healthiest choice (chicken and veggies for dinner) while he goes for the absolute worst (think double cheeseburger with extra bacon or pizza or pasta or fried rice). I almost never eat carbs except in the form of veggies and fruit (and no family dinners such as alfredo or lasagna...makes me scared even thinking about it...and i dont like it!) Its so weird going out to dinner. He thinks all I eat is meat...hes weirded out...how do I solve our differences?

I havent seen her in 3 years, shes a distant relative. I dont want to upset her but she keeps emailing me alot. What upsets me is that i wrote some emails to her sharing my life with photos and recieved no response.
Shes old, in her 60s , never married, no kids, i feel she was jealous, shes also made remarks in her emails to me putting me down and i had to defend myself..

I tried not responding to her, we had no contact for like a year, then she invited me and my mom for thanksgiving, i had to email her back saying "sorry i have alot of work to do but thanks"... Then she emails me saying "i hope you make it next time with your family at my house and i have alot of projects to do myself"
I felt it was a dig, then i get an email from her saying "Today is my birthday, happy birthday to me,, she sent it out to many people,, so i just said happy bday.
Now she emails saying "I hope i see you all before xmas, my friend is selling nice stuff on ebay"... I responded "yes i hope to see you too
