At times, I do not speak clearly. And even though I mostly know my grammar, I don't always use it when I speak.

People look at me like they are annoyed and treat me as if I am dumb at times.

This happens mostly when I am nervous and to people I don't know and at interviews and meetings.
Also in social settings with people I don't know.
Why are people so annoyed at me?. I can't always help it.

It does annoy me and I don't use shortened words even in texts, I always write the whole word and if i'm unsure of the spelling, I always check it. When I have made mistakes on here, I do get a bit annoyed when I realise and it's too late to change it! I believe it's worth it and it amazes me when I spot grammar mistakes in newspaper articles, I mean aren't they supposed to proof read everything to spot such errors? Anyway, rant over! If i've made any mistakes here then excuse me, i'm at work and having my break just now am a bit tired. Good morning by the way. :-)

People are lazy. So sometimes they don't' speak properly.
But the laziness also leads to judging people in the first 5 seconds.

So because poor grammer is linked with being unintelligent they're already making that judgment about you

If you wanted to change you could start of by dropping any weird slang you've found you've picked up. You sound fine from what you've written!

It shouldn't matter how you speak, unless it's some deliberate, annoying way of talking. So you could take the view that if they don't have time for you, you don't have time for them

But in answer to your original question, yes, it does annoy me. But I don't judge people based on it.

I have to admit that yes, it does annoy me sometimes. But I never hold it against someone like that. People make mistakes, it happens, I don't think someone's dumb just because they made a little grammar mistake.

Proper grammar and voice are a first representation of who you are so improper use might come across as uneducated or slow or lazy. You can help how you come across by practicing more so that you aren't losing it everytime you are in a social setting where it is important to show well.

It doesn't bother me when I hear it from someone I don't know. You have to get to know somebody before something like that could be annoying.

No.
It annoys when people consciously use good grammar and politeness. They come across like chimpanzees wearing sunday best.

if they were born here and went through the American school system - yes it does bother me. Things like "I seen her" and "we was" blah blah blah.."her told me" it's disgraceful.
