An old college friend and I have started to email each other, although I'm not sure "where it's at" right now. I think we're trying to figure out if there's a spark?

Besides being myself, what should I write to make the letter more attractive to him? I don't want to just seem "friendly" yet I don't want to be over-the-top or desperate. He's written a couple of long letters to me and made a lot suggestions to meet, altho. that has yet to happen. I've always made the mistake of being too "open" in the past so I want to leave him intrigued at least a little.

PS. Is there a rule about how long I should wait btwn emails?

Thanks!

For me personally, being direct is really attractive. It exudes confidence, desire, interest, etc. It's hard not to be affected by the knowledge that someone believes s/he likes you.

Example:

To be honest, I've been thinking about you quite a bit. We should meet up I think.

If it doesn't work out, it's unlikely to be due simply to the fact that you were slightly too direct. Also, don't worry about observing any arbitrary rules about time between emails. Write back as soon as you want.
