And why do some folks love to brag and flaunt what they have? Never heard of the word humility?

I know someone who loves to say that shes pretty, nice, generous etc. even displaying her shoe collection and bmw (loan) all the time and keeps telling you about what she have even if you never ask anything about it in the first place...

in San Diego, CA at the age of 76, no more pimpin' ho's for Ike. He was the king of laying the smack down, you gotta agree with that. You know? You think Tina will show to the Funeral? I do. Ike discovered her. If it wasn't for Ike, there would be no Tina Turner.

We already have a (two) menorahs outside our building (we have one of those fancy facades), which is great, but other than that - where should a company stand when celebrating a religious holiday?
How about having a rabbi come in to do a ceremony?
I have no problem at all but I'm just curious what people think is appropriate for a company to do when it comes to religion.

We're not talking about legally....what you think is inappropriate and out of line?....whether there is a law to protect you or not.

Have you ever been in this situation? What did you do?

When I was 15, a manager at a fast food resturant that I worked at pushed me into the cooler and thrusted his groin on me. He pinned me down and told me that he could do whatever he wanted and no one would hear me scream.

I went home and told my parents. My dad called the corporate office and threatened to sue them if this man wasn't fired johnny on the spot. Needless to say, they sent another manager to replace him. He was fired immediately. My parent's were PISSED! Rightfully so.

My extended family has some strange practices. Due to a couple of divorces, some of them have decided that spouses shouldn’t be allowed in group photos. (They are a *strange* bunch…) I disagree, but I don’t care enough to fight them and my husband doesn’t really care. My sister-in-law (an excluded spouse) has whined about to me, and sometimes makes comments about the practice when photos are being arranged.

Here’s the issue:

I have two brothers and three nephews (two were born this year), and I don’t have any pictures of just my brothers and their kids. When we celebrate Christmas in a couple of weeks, I want to take a pic of just my five boys. My other sister-in-law won’t care, but the complainer from above probably will.

How should I explain this to the complainer? Or should I just tell my brothers to pose and hope she says nothing?
Or am I actually being as nuts as the extended family?

I have never been to either, I am wondering what is better in terms of how the island looks, things to do and see in the island, the overall personalities and disposition of the people (without being stereotypical or racist...but if u went to one and met only rude people or vey nice people, that is your experience, I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW ABOUT IT!)

Are they luxurious or 3rd world like....

any info you have comparing the two would be great.
thanks!

I am addressing several invitations and wanted to know the proper protocol of addressing the envelope for long names. I am aware that if the names are too long, I indent three spaces for the second name on the second line. What I don't know is--do I move back over to the front of the line for the address or keep the enitre address indented.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

My office co-worker either talks to herself, clicks her tongue, or whistles. It never goes beyond 2 or 3 minutes of peace and quiet unless she's away from her desk. What is the polite way to have her stop?

Should I stop and knock on the guy's door and tell him he needs a new flag? I just think it's disrespectful and it makes me upset that he's flying it like that. I don't think he's doing it on purpose. He's probably unaware that it bothers some people.

My husband is a contractor and has , unitl just recently been working on a special project for a VERY wealthy client. His client has invited my husband and I to his christams party that will be hosted at his home this thurs. night. My question is I was always taught that when you go to someones house for a party you bring a small gift as a way of saying thank you for the invite ( ie wine). But my husband disagrees, he says that the man is so wealthy that anything we could afford to bring would be of no use to him and almost "no good enough". What should I do, I don't want to be rude, but I also don' want to be embarrased my bringing a $30 bottle of wine to a guy with hundred year old bottles in the cellar. Help?!!

This was an argument a friend and I had over this last weekend.

On a return flight home from Florida, I had a window seat. I get bored easily, and was attempting to play on my nintendo DS. The glare from the open window was immense and made it unplayable. So i closed the shade. This then caused some whiny chick in the isle seat to complain she wanted the shade open so she could see out and also get sunlight.

I, in a nice way, told her sorry, but i have the window seat and therefore its fair i decide what to do with it, as it affects me most. I told her she can live without sunlight for an hour and a half. horrendous glare is worse than no sunlight. Her boyfriend across the isle then called me a dick, and we proceeded to have a few words. I kept the window down the whole time. I never saw them again, so who cares right?

well for future reference i want to know how others view this situation? as trivial as it seemed, she and her BF got quite worked up about it

Recently, a friend of my family died when her car crashed into a tree one night. She was found by her husband five hours later when he went out looking for her, concerned that she hadn't returned home.

On the day of her funeral, one of my uncles joked that her husband was more than likely sick and tired of her so he probably hit her over the head, drove her car into a tree and claimed it was an accident. Only my mother and I heard this joke. (Which is a good thing. This woman was very loved by her family and community. Her husband is inconsolable.)

Later on, I mentioned to my mom how inappropriate I felt my uncle’s joke was. She shrugged it off and said that her brother has a “warped” sense of humor. I feel this goes beyond warped.

In your opinion, was this joke beyond the limits of good taste?
