You better not make out with your boss,
I would get jealous,
Well, okay, only if it gets you promotion,
And I get to watch. . . .
And make sure you make a fashion statement by dragging a Yak in on a leash. . . . .

Well, anytime you're talking about a work related event, I would say that it is never wise to get completely wasted. Not only will you be the talk of the company, people will also lose respect for you because of your actions.
Making out with your boss or having a relationship within your company is never wise. Trust me. I did it and I lost a pretty stellar job because of it.
I would act yourself during the party, have a couple of drinks but don't get completely intoxicated, even if you notice others doing the same thing. You want to look like a professional person and you want to show your company that you're ready for that promotion.
Good Luck!!!

You're right that you shouldn't get really drunk or make out with anybody! You should also avoid dominating conversations or becoming too much of a wallflower. Just participate in conversations and listen to other people, be a part of any fun activities that happen (like gift exchanges, etc), and be yourself! Parties are meant to be enjoyable - this is not your interview for promotion.

Normally, I'd say go wild.... but if you're up for a promotion, I would assume that you're someone who wants to be taken seriously, so I'd say you should just stay mellow and cheerful. Play the part of a hostess if the need arises. Greet everybody with a warm smile. "Be the adult." Then, go home and get REALLY trashed with a few friends, and talk about the holiday party. LOL!

Lol, if you're up for a promotion, you don't have to get really drunk and make out with the boss, unless you want to be the laughingstock of the company.

At any fee, the appropriate 3 no-no's, as I keep in mind, have been: a million) do not drink too lots, actual are not getting drunk or loopy; 2) do not make obtrusive performs or ploys with the better-ups, as this could be misunderstood. that is o.k. to communicate with all and sundry who talks with you, yet do not enable others think of you're attempting to "schmooze" your thank you to the subsequent advertising, and; 3) do not gown too provocatively. 'Nuf sed. Granted, you could desire to come wearing, say, bib overalls and artwork boots yet even then somebody will misunderstand. you do not opt to furnish your decrease than friendly co-workers any ammo to apply against you. i've got individually in no way attended a celebration including this, who prefer to be at homestead with my spouse and young infants. besides, in case you go, i'm hoping you do have an wonderful time. I guess you already got it figured out and you answered your question yourself, it's pretty obvious............ getting damn drunk is a definite NO NO, and of course making out with ANYONE is as well. These 2 things could include others such as dancing on the tables, stripping, cursing or having any sort of "wild" behavior because of alcohol intoxication. So I guess you should keep it down, just have a drink or 2 and socialize, maybe even dance if it's customary but that's it.

You're up for a promotion? Well, then do the boss!!
Seriously though...I think you know what not to do. Keep it to a 2 drink max, dress appropriately and make sure you talk to everyone.

Check out the link below.
Definitely don't talk about work or your promotion while at the holiday party. Keep your conversations light.
DO wear something appropriate.

Even though it's a casual environment, don't forget that these are still your co-workers, bosses, subordinates, etc. While you'll obviously talk about things other than work, this isn't the place to open the flood gates on personal information. If you wouldn't want your mom or dad to know about it, it's probably not something to talk about there either.
