Of course it's appropriate for the facility to have a dress code.
What shocks me is that the ladies visiting the facility have to be told to dress decently.
The problems that can arise from women visiting dressed as if they were out for a night of clubbing are pretty serious and a dress code is the only way the staff can prevent those problems.
In a prison, it does not take much to start a feud or even a riot and one guy talking trash about another guy's wife or girlfriend can have explosive results, so naturally, it behooves the administration to do everything they can to minimize the risk.

Yes, this is an appropriate dress code. Many inmates are addicted to pornography and inappropriate clothing might feed that addiction. It could be like giving drugs to a person who is addicted to drugs. In the state where I live, there was a billboard for a sex shop near the prison, and a number of citizens petitioned to have that billboard moved, for the same reason.

Most jails and prisons have a dress code such as this one. It sucks but it's probably for protecting you and the prison guards, as well. Best Wishes!

I think it is necessary for protection. If you think about it... inmates have been looking at the same sex (other then officers) for possibly years. Seeing the opposite sex wearing suggestive clothing could bring on some very big and uncontrollable feelings. This could lead to inappropriate behaviour.
