And why do some folks love to brag and flaunt what they have? Never heard of the word humility?
I know someone who loves to say that shes pretty, nice, generous etc. even displaying her shoe collection and bmw (loan) all the time and keeps telling you about what she have even if you never ask anything about it in the first place...

She sounds insecure. Usually insecure people feel the need to brag about material things because they think people will like them more.. they aren't secure with themselves and don't feel worthy unless they drive an expensive car, wear expensive clothing and carry expensive purses around town. The people with the BMWs are usually the ones who can barely afford the payments. Best Wishes!

People who brag have nobody else to sing their praises so they do it for themselves. Don't judge too harshly--this person is VERY insecure, so much so that she is trying to make herself be much more than she really is. Perhaps you need to hang around other people if she makes you feel diminished. Be a bigger person and just ignore it. She will soon discover that you aren't impressed and will move on to someone else to brag to.

She is insecure. She has to see herself through your eyes. That's how she gauges how pretty or generous she is. Without you, or others, being her mirror to reflect that back to her then she would feel worthless.
Just smile and accept her. She's truly unhappy with herself on some level. Sounds like you're the one who is the secure one!

I think that many people who brag feel insecure and have low self-worth. They want to try to make themselves look better. I think if you pay positive attention to this person it might make her feel like she doesn't need to brag.

Bragging is a sign of low self-esteem and lack of confidence in oneself. That's why they feel a need to tell others that they have this or that, as if that makes them valuable.

M, honestly if one is happy, they will be happy, cheerful, and if you start bragging about stuff, honors, awards and accolades, something just doesn't fit right.
I wouldn't want to brag about anything I have. I would be most grateful I have it, and earned it, because no one wants to hear what you won over and over again.
A happy heart has no cares or troubles or "stuff" to clutter it.

Remember something I learned a long time ago, "If you got it, you do not flaunt it" say no more

I don't think they are unhappy but they are insecure to have to draw attention to themselves that way.
