When you ask for a signature what do you say and why? I have heard both versions of it.

Me and my bf have a long distance relationship, and because of it I've only met his family 4 or 5 times. I don't know them too well.

I'm going to visit this weekend, and staying that their house. Obviously, it is etiquette to get them something for Christmas. But there's 4 other people besides my bf in that family, and getting them each something can get a little pricey. I was thinking of getting the family just one gift. Does that seem cheap?

What can I get them that won't cost too much?

Is there anyway to make this letter better? please revise it for me. thank you

Dear Ms. Lawson (David’s teacher) and Ms. Rosa (Amy’s teacher),

Hi, I’m sorry, but we are going to china in a few days. The reason why we’re going to china is because our grandma had died just a few days before. We are really sad about that, so we need to go back to china and join my grandma’s funeral. So I’m asking for your permission to go to china.

Sincerely, David and Amy

afterwards all went in to the living room and your mother in-law takes out a book to read and your father in-law starts playing on his laptop...would you say something. I thought this was very rude.

Because you can see a part of themselves that they probably can't see as being judgmental? And are you being judgmental by doing so?

I'll give you the "Readers Digest" version: My Dad's rich, I'm not. He doesn't really care about me, and I don't really care about him. We still exchange xmas presents just to keep up appearances. Every year all he does is send me $200, and I kill myself trying to come up with something, ANYTHING that isn't the same old crap I get him every year (booze, cigars, last year, if I recall correctly, I got him Omaha steaks). I haven't the care or the energy to try anymore. Anyone have any ideas?

He's retired so he doesn't need a tie or anything like that.
And a picture of me is out of the question because despite how many pictures my sister and I have given him over the years (school, my wedding and such) he hasn't put one up in his house. He only has pictures of himself and wife #3.

I should just send him a check for $200, shouldn't I? That would be funny.

The company I bought it from says that I am responsible for the package, especially since I sent it to a different address other than my billing address. I don't agree. I think that if I pay for something, it should be enjoyed. Am I wrong in thinking that? Has anyone had any situations like this?

a neighbour of my parents died a couple of weeks ago. He was still working and only in his early 60's. He left a wife and grown up sonwho lives away from home. I live with in walking distance and I knew them enough over the past 10 years to stop and chat. He and his wife and son have always been friendly to me, but I'm not close to them, as in good friends. Should I send a christmeas card this year? Would you?

You ask a usually quiet girl "How are you doing today?" She smiles at you but then quickly glances downwards and says "Good" in her quiet, sweet voice.

After witnessing this, what would you be thinking?

Everyone hates this party, but we don't hate eachother.
We just do it. What is the boss telling us by having this every year? Is it really about the money? Maybe he is embarrassed to hang out with us. Isn't is about more than getting together and eating food? I'm not asking him.

How about the word "*********"? Is it a racial slur? It means cheap or stingy and though it sounds and looks like another word that most certainly is a racial slur, "*********" is a different word altogether. Do I need to stop using it because other people don't know what it means?

I'm thinking of paying her a surprise visit when I get paroled in two weeks to say 'Hey... look at me... I'm a normal guy'.

What's the best way to go about doing this? You know, to make it unforgettable.

Thanks.

This has happened to me a few times, random strangers would say something racist and rude and it would be kind of out of the blue, and I wouldn't really expect it and don't know what to say. I would think of something really intelligent to say later, but by then it would already have been too late. I don't want to start a fight, but I also want people to know that I'm not a doormat and I don't appreciate being disrespected to. How can someone defend themself on the spot?
