This has been going on for years, 20 that I know of, and it is a marketing approach. Even though it irritates me, you and others it apparently works, because marketing only does what works. Then they move on if that approaches fails. Same as an advertisement repeating itself, over and over again, such as a phone number, or three times in one hour a Ford advertisement, for example. they have found that babies (and they look at us as childlike with no brain) remember by rote, so they use that on us.
Sad, isn't it? But writing them or boycotting makes no difference. We are only one in a sea of many.

I think the loud volume is designed to wake you up and make you pay attention to the ad. Many television sets will come with a feature that evens out the maximum volume. This feature will make it so that the commercial is not louder than the program.

You can write a letter to the channel who shows the advertisements and tell them that you don't watch the ads because of their high volume.

Most people leave the room during the commercials so the advertisers want to make sure that you can hear them in the other room like when you go to the kitchen to get a snack. It's never going to change so just get used to it and turn down the volume.

I do not watch much tv. But when I watch it, I mute the tv volume or turn it down completely.
I do not pay attention to commercials and don't buy anything they offer. I ignore them completely.

It's a marketing ploy. Cable companies aren't going to stop, they'd lose their advertising dollars.

I hate it too. I usually "mute" it by using the MUTE button on the remote control.
