The company I bought it from says that I am responsible for the package, especially since I sent it to a different address other than my billing address. I don't agree. I think that if I pay for something, it should be enjoyed. Am I wrong in thinking that? Has anyone had any situations like this?

Thanks for the responses. I talked to fedex and I can't file a claim with them because I'm not the actual shipper. And the company told me that the shipping costs didn't include having a signature. The thing is...this is not listed on the website. The only thing they have on there are the shipping rates. It doesn't offer the opportunity to choose any additions to shipping. It states that I could call and place the order but if I did it that way then I couldn't ship it to a different address. The customer service rep said that if I pursued a refund he would turn it over to a collection agency. The fedex tracking number says it was delivered. Even if someone stole it, I just don't see how I am responsible. The way I see it, I bought something from them and they were responsible for getting it to my recipient...

Fed Ex and UPS have to get a signature upon delivery as part of their "proof of delivery".
This time of year they like to just drop off and run since the drivers are so busy, but unfortunately that makes it easy to steal from your front porch.
Just file a claim, and it'll be open and shut if they don't have his actual signature for delivery. They'll reimburse you for the value of the package plus the delivery fee.

I don't see how they claim you didn't pay for signature delivery. I believe Fedex always is supposed to get a signature. Worst case scenario I would dispute the charges with your credit card company, explaining everything you've said. American Express in particular, will almost certainly side with you since you are not in possesion of the merchandise and they have no proof of delivery, but Visa/Mastercard probably will side with you also.

The package may have been delivered but someone stole it. A lot of the time, they will leave the package on the doorstep and ring the bell.
Was the package insured? If so, then file a claim with the companies insurance. If it wasn't, then most likely you are out the present. Sorry
good luck with it.

Have FedEx put a trace on it and have them find out who signed for it. They may have delivered it to the wrong house or apartment or someone might have stolen it off the porch if they just left it without getting a signature. FedEx is responsible. Get the trace # off of it and call FedEx.

I'm dealing with the same thing only I won an item off ebay and the company says they mailed it usps but that was over a month ago. They told me to contact my post office but when I did they had no record of the shipping number. Now the company is ignoring my emails and compliants! I feel like they took my money and ran! It sucks!!!!

A big box full of Nascar items with Dale Jr's logo. Jackets, shirts sweats, flags, autographed pictures, a clock, all of his scale model cars and more stuff from Back in the Day, Dirty Moe's, decals all kinds of stuff. Okay, so I'm dreaming. Lol!

call fedex and have them figure out where the package was delivered to. this happened to me a couple of weeks ago when i ordered something online. anyway, they told me where it was delivered to (down the street, wrong address, off by one digit) and after work i was going to knock on their door but before i could do that they'd returned it to my front porch. nice people! but yes, call fedex and file a claim...

They have a way to trace the package, do that first, then file an insurance claim through Fed Ex.

you paid for it, the person should get it!! file a claim and try to get re-imbursed... you are right in the situation... it is possible that fed ex messed up... one time we ordered a vacuum but the fed ex guy delivered a telescope... we called them up and had them bring our package back in exchange for the telescope package... if you take it as far as to file a claim, they will probably know that you are being serious and just want your items you paid for!! good luck with that mess... you'll need it to deal with those people!! when in doubt, ask to speak to a supervisor!!! =)

call the company that you purchased the product from. Hopefully you have the receipt printed out and you can use that for reference.
Good luck. If not I would contact my CC and let them know that a purchase was not delivered as specified and that you want to dispute the order.

Fed ex can put a tracer on the package to see what happened....
Is it possible they left it on a doorstep and it got stolen. In this area they caught someone following a delivery truck and doing their Christmas shopping.
