because of germaphobia, are always the ones that end up pissing all over it and then not clean it up? Do they not realize they are the one's causing the problem?

I work in a nice showroom with a ladies' room that is marble and granite laden and cleaned by a crew nightly. it's seldom used by anyone other than myself and gleams like a freakin angel's halo, yet for some reason some customer decides it doesn't meet her standards and proceeds to pee all over it like a child in potty training. and then not wipe it up. sure, if a public toilet is completely truckstop dirty, then i won't even use it. i'd rather sit on the same spot someone's butt has been than sit on their urine.

belen: i know, it blows my mind, they'll put a seat cover down, still hover over it, pee all over it, and then leave it stuck to the seat.

shortbus helmet guy with encrypted avatar name: i agree, if women are going to refuse to sit and pee, then they need to use the men's room. they're used to splatter and such in there.

Pengie: that's my point, the people that are afraid of toilet seats are the ones making them dirty. you wouldn't have to worry about sitting in pee if chicks just sat down instead of hovering over the pot. i'm sure most peoples' home toilets aren't any less dirty than most public ones. especially since a lot of public restrooms get cleaned more often than domestic toilets. your poo and pee aren't any less germy than anyone else's.

Pengie: what are you going to do when your office isn't new anymore? you gonna hover over the toilet there too?

i don't care if they sit on the seat or not but for goodness sake, they could have enough courtesy to clean their own pee off of it instead of making someone else do it.
most germs, std's, etc. die within seconds of being exposed to air.
surprisingly enough.... they did a study recently and found most public bathrooms are cleaner than your own bathroom at home.

How dare a man call it infantile to be a germaphobe about sitting on a seat! Men stand and pee on whatever they want- we women are slaves to the toilet seat!
I never underestimate the ability of people to be complete and total, unhygienic pigs. People have stinky butts. People get STDs. I don't really care WHAT people do, but I don't need it on my butt. I carry seat covers with me, or these new mini Lyson sprays and spray down things before I put my bare a55 on them! A lot of places are really clean anyway- only in some restaurants and malls (or rest stops) will you find truly nasty bathrooms. Most other places clean a few times a day.
Squatters as well, are a big reason I carry seat covers. Why can't you lower yourself and sit on the seat? If I have to, I will sit on the seat, because if I try and squat, I don't know where my pee will land. Use the toilet paper to make a little barrier if you must, but come on, why squat and pee on the seat? It just leaves everything that much less sanitary for the person after you. I dont consider squatters germaphobes, I consider them dirty, evil pigs that care nothing for others. True germaphobes will wipe the area down and place their heinies down with pride.

Women don't want to touch the seat. Personally I don't care I grew up in a house where my mom didn't demand the toilet seat be put down. My dad and my brother always left it up. In my house I like to keep the lid on the seat because I read in Feng Shui that if you leave the lid open then all your good fortune will do down the drain. Too me its not a big a deal, if I come into the bathroom and the seat is up in someones house. But for some reason if I'm in public and its a unisex bathroom then I do have a problem mainly because I don't want to touch the seat even with tissue. I don't understand the big deal about it. Sometimes my boyfriend leaves the seat up and sometimes he doesn't. Not a big deal.

I totally agree. That's one of my pet peeves. At my last job, every toilet seat in every bathroom was always covered in pee. It was so disgusting. Of course, once there's pee on the seat, everyone else who uses the toilet after that will not sit on the toilet either and will pee all over the seat too. It's a vicious cycle.
I can understand some people's phobia of putting their butt on the seat, but I don't understand why they have to be such slobs about it. Sometimes I don't like sitting directly on the toilet seat, depending on where I'm at. But if I am in a restroom where I don't want to sit on the toilet, I will use a toilet seat cover and sit down. If they don't have those, then I will fashion one out toilet paper and sit down. I don't like peeing all over the place like some people. That's just nasty.

As a man and having read about this subject so many times, it never fails to amaze me on how dumb and lazy some people are. Most restrooms come equipped with toilet paper and toilet protectors. Use the tp to wipe off the seat and the protector to cover it. If there are no protectors, use the tp. What's so hard about that? If there's no need to pull a leg muscle or abdomen muscle by "hovering" or squatting, why do it??

I agree. Some people are just plain nasty. In a nice restroom (like you described) I will usually just sit and go. If the restroom is a little questionable, I will line the toilet seat with paper before I sit. It makes you wonder. Since the pee is all over the seat (and probably the floor as well, it probably went down their leg some as well...GROSS!!!

You women are just lazy needing to sit and pee. Give me a frikkin' break. You can stand and pee just like us guys. Apparently some of you do too. Kudos to you.
Either lift up the seat or use the men's room urinals. We promise we won't look. Maybe you can spruce up the place too. Bring in one of your leather couches and such.
p.s, Suzy D (above),
Why wash your hands when you are going to grab the doorknob on the way out?

In college we cultured the restroom of a local shopping mall for Microbiology -- there were more germs.....E. Coli, serratia, Staph, acinebacter.....on the DOOR KNOB leading out of the bathroom than on the actual seat.
Everyone say EWWWWWWWWWW
Put your *** on the seat and use the wipes to get out the door!
(We also counted the number of people exiting without stopping to wash.....3 out 5 people in the ladies room in 2 hours did not stop and wash!)

i agree with you.but not all truck stops are dirty either. i've been in quite a few in the past 3 years. and they have the paper things you can place on the seat for protection.LADIES USE THEM THATS WHAT THEY ARE THERE FOR. or at the least take some toilet paper and wipe the seat.
if you sprinkle when you tinkle
please be neat and wipe the seat

"Why is it that the women that insist on NOT sitting on the the toilet seat?"
'cuz it's NASTY?!?! You can't stop everyone from doing it, so I'm sure as heck not sitting in the pee of the people who keep doing it!
The only place I ever sit is in my own home and at work (small, new office).
