We already have a (two) menorahs outside our building (we have one of those fancy facades), which is great, but other than that - where should a company stand when celebrating a religious holiday?
How about having a rabbi come in to do a ceremony?
I have no problem at all but I'm just curious what people think is appropriate for a company to do when it comes to religion.

in my politics class we are learning about how religion plays a part in presidents stand point on things. and i think it would only be fit if you celebrated something from everyone religion at your company otherwise it isn't fair for the others who do not celebrate Hanukkah unless everyone in your company was Jewish.maybe if your company has a holiday party throw in things like draidle and something from other religions too and instead of calling it a Christmas party call it a holiday party.

Unless 100% of the employees are Orthodox Jewish, the appropriate way to celebrate Hanukkah is to close for that day and give the employees a day to worship...or not.

That is the only need for a day off, to attend temple, church, mosque, etc. The only appropriate way to acknowledge a religious holiday in the work world is "seperately". This will give employees the opportunity to respect their own personal traditions and customs without forcing them upon anyone who is of another faith, or without one.

Shalom

Unless your company is specific to only Jewish employees, I'd say that if one religion is recognized.. then all should be recognized! That can become quite tricky though! It's easier to just have for example Winter Celebration or Spring Celebration. Keep it neutral and call it a day!

well i would suggest maybe playing draddle which is the top with 4 letters from the hebrew alphabet. You can play for money so it makes it entertaining for sure.
