Have you ever been discriminated against because of your accent or the way you talk?

My daughter is turning 13 this month and is inviting 35 of her closest friends to her birthday bash. We are wondering if it is rude to accept gifts when the party is this large? and if you do accept gifts, is it rude to not open them while everyone is there? The party is only 3 hours long and we have lots of activities plannned. Opening that many gifts would take up too much of the party. My initial response was to say no gifts, but she goes to most of these kids parties and gifts them. Has anyone else been in this situation?

does it make them any bigger of a person, by doing that? If they really wanted to point out someone's fault, can't they do so in a respectful manner?

I had a friend who worn flip flops even after they had worn holes in the sole. She only worn them when she could not be barefoot. The flip flops she worn developed holes in them rather quickly. She would continue to wear them around. I asked her why she continued to wear them after the had holes, she told me they dont bother her, they where only shoes. Have you ever worn flip flops with holes in the sole?

Goofing around, I made a quote from a movie which referred to deafness. I get along good with my woworkerrs but this one guys face got a tad angry looking for a second, then we laughed a second. It was totally insensitive, I know to joke about anything like that but it was more the joke about the movie than the deaf issue, but apparently he hasnt seen that movie to even know what I was talking about. Yeah the guy is almost totally deaf that I said this in font of, and I feel like total crap. Any advice?

I recently got married, and moved houses... Everything was in an uproar. I kept up with almost all of the thank you notes, except for the few gifts I rec'd after we moved. There was one friend that I couldn't remember if I sent a thank you card to or not... So, I asked him if he sent a gift, and did I send a thank you note. Well, you can imagine how awful I felt after he said he didn't give a gift, but "one is on the way." UGH! I was embarrsed, and felt like an idiot. Now, it's been a while, and my house is still in shambles from a renovation, and I can't find any thank you notes... Would it look bad to send one at this late date?

I have a bad relationship with my manager. She really has a nasty attitude and avoids speaking because I was friends with one of the tenants that got evicted. (Why, I don't really know) anyway, there has been situations where a dog was doing its business on my parking spot daily and I told her and she said there was nothing she could do. I wrote a letter to the management company and she got reallyyy mad but the dog dooing stopped. So now I found a receipt that I would have no relationship to and I called the number and thought it was the managers husband who is no longer there. He said that it wasn't him and that his girlfriend lives in the apartment building....I didn't give my name and I blocked my number. Shortly after, Iget a call from the manager stating that she wanted my side of the story and that someone probably thought it was mine receipt and put it under my door. It was too far under the door!!!. How did she know who the guy was talking to, I didn't tell him. Hmmmm!!

(I'm just asking once more to get more opinions.)
A word document with the picture, link, and price of things + a list of promotional codes you can use to get discounts. Nothing over $50.
Is it too presumptuous?
I'm trying to make it easy for my family because I never ask for anything and now I'm trying the opposite.
My family is always asking for a list and sometimes I ask for so little or I'm so vague, they end up buying identical things for me. They also don't know me very well.
Should leave off the price from the list? I thought it would be easy to put the price for them so they don't have to sit and click links all day.

If you use both, when and why do you use each?

How do you feel when people say "thank you" or "thanks" to you? Does that make any difference?

Where are you from? Is English your first language? I'm asking because I get the impression that this makes a difference in how you feel about this.

Thank you for your answer! :)

Have a wonderful day! :)

my husband birthday is coming up. at first, started out asking a few neighbor friends if they wanted to get together for dinner and drinks. about 6 of us. when i asked his friend at work if there were a few of them who wanted to meet, it turned into 10-15 people. so we are looking at about 20 people. i was thinking small, small budget. now it's big. buffet for 25 people is $20 a head. i don't want to go broke for this. we are leaving for disney a few days later, then xmas...etc. i was thinking i'd bring a cake, order a bunch of appetizers, let people order their own drinks. is that cheap? i think i could go broke if i paid for drinks too. thoughts???

the picture yoursel? My friend got some family pictures with her son, & she wants to give me one. I don't care either way to have on or not. She keeps on telling me I need to come up to her job to pick up the picture. I never expressed I wanted a picture, I thought that your suposed to send the pictures in the mail if you're not going to see that person. I don't drive, & to get up to her job is an inconvience for me. I asked her to just drop it in the mail along with my b-day card that she wanted me to come pick up from her job. (mind you my b-day was in June!) Her excuse is that people never get things she mails to them. I don't understand if why she thinks I am supposed to come & pick up the picture. Isn't she suposed to send the pictures to friends & family? All my other friends send me pictures in the mail, unless they know they are gonna see me. Am I wrong?

When they turn 16 they think you owe them a car

When they turn 18 and they don't have a job and drop out of school, all they want is to party with their friends 24-7 then they think we still owe them a place to live

Where do they get off - kids these days have no morals or respect

Farting is a part of us such as yawning or sneezing. It was scientifically proven that the average person tends to fart 15-20 times a day.....if everyone does it...then why try to hide it? Or be so embarrassed by it? Why can't people just say excuse me and go outside or go to the bathroom to fart? Or even just do it there as long as it is in a decently ventillated area? Why try to hide something that every body does and it is a naturally bodily function?

Christmas is a religious holiday. It is also about the gift of giving? Even if it is just giving someone a nice hug or something thoughtful. How did Christmas turn into a thing of money. People base it on how much someone spends on them. How much they get. How expensive the items are. Why can people not be happy with one simple item. I would rather someone give me one blanket that they made for me rather than a $7,500 name brand blanket! Why does Christmas have to do with money so much rather than the thought?

I'm not talking a light scent, I'm talking this woman walks into the building and you can immediately smell her. When she leaves a room it lingers. When customers are talking to her, they literally step back a little. She has changed perfumes a few times, but it's just too much - we sneeze, get headaches, etc. Is there a polite way to stop her?

I'm friendly, charismatic and calm.
I am 24, and have a 3y/o, 20m/o and 16w/o
They are such well behaved, pleasent little girls.
It's been hard to make friends. My neighborhood wants to keep themselves to themselves. So last year i got my two oldest into our churches Mother's Day Out Program. It's small and humble and they really enjoy going.
But i see i'm getting looked down upon. Yes, i'm young and i'm slender in build, people tend to question if i am the mother of all 3 because i'm peptite and when i say yes, they can get argumentative. I make jokes out of it so not to seem uppity or change the subject quickly and that hasen't worked. I took my 20m/o to MDO last week and smiled at everyone, said hi, how are you and could not believe that i got snubbed by everyone.
If i keep my head down, i get funy looks, i say hi and smile, i get funny looks.
I'm in Texas and this is new compared to the constant friendliness i have seen. I just want a social life again.
