they were raised that way!!!
A negative environment...they would pick-up sum of the things that were going on in their atmosphere like the language, attitude, violence & never taught any mannors! i've seen this happen before, i've seen the "kids are the parents & the parents are the kids" i would see kids kick, scream, shout, cry & parents would just give in & give them what they want! It's nerve racking! If parents would just put their foot down & grow sum balls when it comes 2 there kids...there wouldn't be sooo many disobedience kids running around!!!!

or

Sumtimes, they're so miserable, that it makes them feel better bout' themselves by makin everyone & everything miserable around them, be/c they are!

When i was young, I was a trouble maker!! Im actually glad that my parents were strict on the way i act, the way i talk, & the way i present myself...be/c they weren't being mean parents as i thought there were, they raising me to be the person that i am now!

If you have a look at the people being horrible and rude, most of them would not rate a second look or thought except for the fact that their attitude is in your face - so I would say its a form of compensation/power. Pathetic excuses should try hard work and character building instead of dragging others down.

It makes them feel better about themselves. The problem with this though is that it quickly wears off and they must do it again and again.

I personally think that being rude to others is one of the worst things people can do and I have taught my children the same thing. I wish others would teach their children as well, perhaps we wouldn't have so many rude people in the world.

Because they think they are gods and they rule over everybody else. They think they have all the rights in the world and nobody else does. It's very sad that they think this way. We are all the same, nobody should feel superior to the other. If we all treated each other with honor and respect, the world would certainly be a better place to live!

In a strange way it makes them feel better - it's like bullies in a playground...but they are usually cowards. Also, some people feel the need to put on this "hard" front though some are just not sensitive to other people's feelings (these people tend to be...how can I put it.... a bit thick).

They are best ignored - as the old saying goes, "Don't let the bast**ds get you down"!!

Because they are ugly and the way you feel it that way may be because you are treated that way often and is sad. Try looking at the mirror and be honest to yourself and don't self pity but do something about it or they will treat you more horrible and rude when you age.

Yes its very rude! They think they are better than every one else! Its like being popular in school, if your not popular or a big shot than you get picked on from other people and its just not right! People have feeling and just as much right as everyone else to br free or have fun, it not about being popular, its about being your self!

The other answerers are right. People who are constantly putting others down are trying to feel good about themselves by doing so. Some people also confuse being obnoxious with being honest. If you absolutely must confront someone, it be good to say something like, "I'm sorry you feel a need to insult me to feel good about yourself. I don't see anything so terribly bad about either one of us."

Because thier own lives are so wretched and miserable
they want to make others feel the same.To drag someone down to thier level, even if it's just a few minutes, makes them happy, they are sick in the head.

The only way some people can feel good about themselves is to knock others rather than improve their own life - sad really.
