Extremely rude.

Any bodily function should be supressed, especialy gas. If you pass gas (either front or rear) it is similar to pooping or peeing. As you know, that is a no no.

Top 12 Rude Dining Behaviors

1.Flatulence

Sometimes passing gas may be unavoidable, but try to suppress it. Squeeze the anal sphincter hard until the urge goes away.

2. Burping

Sometimes burping may be unavoidable, but try to suppress it using your napkin.

3. Chewing With Your Mouth Open

The mouth should be closed when chewing. ABC (already been chewed) is not an appetizing sight.

4. Blowing Nose at the Dinner Table

It is very offensive and unsanitary to blow one's nose at the table. Excuse yourself and go to the restroom.

5. Being Rude to Wait Staff

Being rude or impolite to the wait staff is unacceptable. If you do not like your food or wine, let the wait staff know politely and they will get you a replacement. However, if you have finished your meal or wine, then you should not expect a replacement meal or drink.

6. Picking Your Teeth

If food is stuck in your teeth, then excuse yourself and go to the restroom.

7. Talking With Mouth Full

When the mouth is full of food, wait to speak until you have swallowed the food. Again, it is not appetizing to see food and when talking with food in the mouth, some could accidentally get spit onto your guests.

8. Talking on Cell Phones

Cell phones should be turned off or on vibrate or silence during a meal. Never answer the call unless it is an emergency. If expecting an emergency call, let your table party know so that when you receive it, you can excuse yourself from the table and talk outside.

9. Licking Fingers

If your fingers happen to get food on them, use your napkin to wipe them clean. Or, excuse yourself, and use the restroom to wash hands.

10. Grooming or Touching Up Make Up

Although commonly seen in restaurants, the place to primp is in the restroom.

11. Over Indulging the Alcohol

It is uncouth to drink too much. It is also unhealthy to have too much alcohol and unsafe to drive. Even if you have a designated driver, alcohol tends to unleash obnoxious behavior.

12. Not Leaving a Tip

Unless the service was unbearable, a 15% to 20% tip should be left. If the service was terrible, speak discretely with the restaurant manager.

Oh yes brother! It is definitely considered rude in all of the instances you listed. If the restaurant manager joins in, he/she is unprofessional and will probably be disciplined later. Even if you or a kid belches or breaks wind, you should excuse yourself and make a trip to the bathroom or outside. Reserve those "contests" for an appropriate venue.

Yes, if they are yours (you don't want your kids growing up like that do you???) but no, not if they are at a neighbouring table, especially when the parents are distracted (eg embroiled emotionally in some way with one another) and don't immediately notice you undermining the years of hard work they have put in on table manners. I very much doubt the scenario where the waitress or manager joins in, but maybe it could happen in some other country, anything goes if the staff join in.

Hell ya rude! Was very much my style at Pizza Hut when I was impreshioning my new half-sister and blood brother, during my 17th & 18th birthdays.
I considered it my duty to show them that what other people think doesn't matter...we're family! [It's all about the Simpson's - Homer being a character taken from my home city]

If they are not your kids but they want in, why not?

If the waitress joins in that is too kewl but if the manager tries to take away the win, throw food at him.

Belching in public is ALWAYS rude. As the adult it is your responsibility to set the good example If they are your kids or not. No self respecting waitress who likes her job would join in such behavior. If her customers complained it could cost her her job. Same goes for the Manager, one call to corporate and they would be out of a job very quickly for that sort of disturbing behavior. Think of the other patrons, that could make certain people not feel much like enjoying their food. It could loose you customers who in fact are what keep your business in business. In your own home on the other hand ... that is entirely up to your own discretion

Is it rude...

If they are your kids?
Yes. I've raised them better than that!!

If they are not your kids?
No. Hilarious!!!

If the waitress joins in?
No, as long as she isn't serving my food at the time.

If the restaurant manager joins in?
Yes, just because I don't like when managers walk around "spying" on the tables.

Don't get me wrong - I'm all for belching contests. BUT they shouldn't take place in a restuarant. Other people are trying to eat, you know. But as soon as you step outside.. well, that's a different story.

It would be very rude. You should take them
and yourself back to the kitchen area. That
way the cooks could join in also.
