I was talking to my 17 year old about her younger siblings about the mess on the wall behind the trash can. They always throw their stuff away but get a lot on the wall. She said "ya know, mom, most people keep their trash cans under the sink". So I'm just taking a survey. Thanks

I have my 4 small children asleep in our small 1300sq ft apt. It's 12:30 am. and the new neighbors who moved in downstairs are blaring their music and it's thumping our entire floor.
I don't know what to do.
We recently moved from our 4000+ sq ft home to save $ to build a house and this is an adjustment for us all, but this is crazy! I try to keep the kids quiet all day while we're home and we try to be out as much as possible so as not to disturb anyone. I may not get after the kids for stomping or hollering anymore, you know? What do you think I should do, bake some cookies and take them some and ask if they could keep it down in the middle of the night, or should we start stomping at 6 am when we start our day? I want to do the right thing here, so obviously misbehaviour should not be our intent... but still...

My neighbor passed away today. She lived with her mother.

I have bought a card to send, but I am not sure what I should write.

Any suggestions would greatly help.

I'm 17 years old (18 Tuesday) and I work in a restaurant. There's a older woman in her 60's or so who has the same title as me but she is always yelling at me and criticising what I do and now she has got the supervisor to yell at me all the time too.
Is there a law or something against this? because I honestly don't do anything wrong and they yell at me in front of customers aswell.

I hate working there so much but I can't quit until I have another job.

this guy got soo mad at me becuase i didnt clean his table, in his mind, he's suppose to pre-buss, meaning he's suppose get all the big plates, he didnt , so my friend said not to clean his tables off, i thought he was still on the clock , and i get my tipps my cleaning tables off

so i gathered and cleaned up all the lineans and glasses , trash and i just gathered up the big plates and put them on the edge of the table so he could pick them up when walkingn by them, i mean i was nice enough to clean up most of his mess, we're suppose buss 20% off and servers 80%, anyways he said he wouldnt tipp me out , he kept harassing me, he threw a fit and his face got soo red,

he threw his plate down and he kept throwing everything he touched around because i didnt do his job for him, my friend even told him it was her idea not to buss and shouldnt be mad at me since i was nice enough to claer most of his table off

You know the type who "playfully" teases you and "playfully" makes jokes at your expense? But when you protest claims that she/he was just kidding and you're being too sensitive??

"bless you" is really for sneezing...
most people are quite or don't know what to say when somebody coughs... a "are you alright ?" really doesn't count because it's a question.

Any ideas?????

The girl at the checkout started making comments on what i was buying. first it was the crest whitening strips and she says "this destroys your enamel, i would never buy it" i replied with a smile saying "it will grow back" and she says "no it doesn't" with a frown. Anyway then came the organic butter. she says" i can't believe you are paying $9 for butter, you have too much money".
isn't her job to take the money and pack the things and give the change back, since when does the staff of a supermarket has the authority to make comments on what the customers are buying.
i ignored this incident thinking its Canadian culture. i come from England and if this happened in my hometown, the chances are she would have been in a lot of trouble. My question is that is this a one off incident or is this common in Canada?

I don't stand in the middle of a crowded room and light up, I will find an as much out of the way place as I can. I wait till people walk past and hold my cigarette away from them, it's not like I blow my smoke in anyones face. But at least once a week someone decides to do the fake cough. Yesterday it was a fat lady, so I said "why dont you lay off the cheese burgers?". She wasn't impressed but gosh it felt good. So my vengence begins. Sure I have a right to smoke and she has the right to eat all the fatty food she wants, but dont judge unless you want to be judged is my new monto. Any one agree?

A new guy moved into our flat the other day, and we were talking about movies and I mentioned what my favourite one was, but he thought it was a stupid movie and continously took the piss out of me about it for the whole evening. I think he was trying to be funny, but I found it offensive and rather rude, especially considering he only moved into our flat a few days ago and I've only talked to him once before.
Am I being silly?

I just asked a earlier question a few seconds ago about being a Judge and then it made this question pop in my head? Why do we call them this? Now, I know as a sign of respect, but why? Sir or miss is respectful too. Where did that specific type of addressing Judges come from or originate?
