The neighbor kid likes to set off firecrackers all year round -not daily of course, but often enough that when I hear something go off, I'm probably going to assume it's just him again. I don't even look, apart from kids playing such pranks it's a safe neighborhood, I've never heard of a shooting for miles around and I've lived here for 30 years.

If I'm not lying on the floor bleeding...I assume...
...I check on the people I'm with, if anyone is shot. I think "is this the 4th of July, Cinco de Mayo, or have I wandered across the border into Mexico, the middle east, etc or anywhere people just shoot into the air outta "fun and excitement" "(birthdays, celebrations in general?).
None of the above... If I can determine where the shot/shots came from I'll call 911 and give the best info I can... if I can't determine the direction...I'd go home...(and clean my gun, put it back in the case and hope no one else saw me). Kidding.
