ogling a woman you are working in with and then giving a guy the thumbs up signal.

Today at work I encountered a very intoxicated man who claimed to be dying of lung cancer and as I saw him eating dinner at the bar all by himself I almost broke down in tears and wanted to find a way to tell him that I wished I could help. Do you think this is a case of a poor lonely man who drinks because his is dying and alone or a drunk who is dying alone because he has always been drinking?

Either way my heart pours out and I can only hold back tears because I'm the eternal sucker who feels bad for poor man that did not have a chance and every crack-head who asks me for a dollar.

I don't get you girls. chicks. However you want to call yourselves. I just don't get the fact that you guys are turned on by tattoos. You guys make me sick. Even sicker than that time when I ate a Supreme Burrito at Taco Bell, and realizing that the beef that they used was Grade F, and that my breath smells like pig shiet and urine mixed up. DISGUSTING.

For instance, people with less manners can bombard you with surprise insults. And someone with manners may not know how to react. Also, they may hope for a civilized world or they maye expect a civilized world, and not be fully prepared for the rudeness of the world. In that sense, what good is it to teach manners to a child if its just going to make them a doormat for rude peoples behaviors?

I think it's a poor way to make yourself clear and even if the sarcastic meaning is obvious, it's quite a silly way to make yourself look.
I think being clear is better. Less annoying.

I was at a kind of very casual restaurant with my friend. We got our food which was 30 dollars. There was a table nearby with two women in their late 20s I'm guessing and an older man I took to be their father.

Suddenly one of the women got up from the other table and walked towards us. Then she sat at our table, which was a wraparound booth. She put her arm on my friend. Then she said not to eat the vegetables (my friend ordered two sides of veggies and chicken), because they are rubbery. Then she said to my friend that she sent hers back and that my friend might have her old veggies. Then she suggested she order fruit.

We both sat their with out mouths hanging open. We didn't know what to say. We were very confused. Finally she left.

Basically we didn't want to say anything because recently there was a murder at a restaurant where someone was doing some weird stalking and then he came back and killed someone. So we just sat silently.

My friend was very upset (more to come...)

I realy get hungry after each time I partake in the delicious meal, but it never truly fills me up. I eat many kinds of Chinese, not simply carbs or vegies.

You're watching one of your fav shows and someone walks into the room, sits down, and begins talking on the phone as loud as the volume is on the t.v. The more you turn the volume up, the louder the person speaks. Who should turn down the volume?

I have a great relationship with many of the women at my part-time job. However, they sometimes ask me to do little personal things for them that I really don't feel I should be doing, nor want to do. Today for example, one of them asked me if I can go refill her drink for her. Now, if I was heading to that area of the building, I'd gladly do it, but I wasn't. I told her no, and she looked as if I insulted her. I don't feel that I should have to leave the office to refill her soda only to come back and continue working. I don't mind doing favors for people, but I feel that was rediculous and I'm not sure if my answer may have came off wrong or was just not being accepted by the asker. What's the best way to *politely* respond to someone the next time someone asks me to go refil her drink or go to the breakroom and get something from the vending machine for them?

wear flip-flops or sandals on their way to and from the office, but when at work they change into their high-heels they keep under their desk. It's becoming sort of a trend from where I come from, I just think its not fashionably nice (or correct) to wear a work suit but flip-flops underneath even if you're riding the bus or subway. It just shows how lazy some women are.

If two or three people are together, they will invariably walk side by side and prevent faster walkers behind them from passing. They are totally oblivious to anyone else. This makes for some nasty confrontations. Why don't these people move over and allow others to pass?

Is it improper grammar to ask your mate, "Honey, CAN you, please...(i.e.,open the door, fix the sink, hand me the towel etc.?)

I'm American, but my mate (from England) says this is improper grammar to ask "CAN YOU" when asking for a favor.

He finds this phrasing wimpy. He insists that I should just say, Honey "open the window, or hand me this, or do this." Without using a question phrase.
Whenever I ask "can you, please," he automatically and robotically answers (in a snidey mocking fashion) "CAN I OR WILL I ?" I have heard this 1.000 times, but still go on asking, Honey Can you please?" Maybe because I am intimidated.

I need to know if his behavior is a control thing or a grammar thing.

Is he right?

When he wants a favor from me, he just makes demands like, "I need this letter typed now!", or complains "I don't have any clean clothes!" or jokes "I'm totally surrounded without tea and cookies."

This is a small complex, it's two story with carport underneath and 4 apartments on top. The new neighbor started moving in last Wednesday, I was out of town for the weekend and when I got back the guy had piled "junk-yard" stuff on top of our fire escape.

I knocked on his door Monday evening and asked him to move it, he said he just moved in and if I can understand that. I said I understand that you just moved in but I need you not to block the fire escape.

I got home this evening (Wed.) and the stuff is still there and it looks like he added more to it. (ex. A 10-speed bike with one tire, a broken bench, a car bumper etc.)
Should I ask him again today, do I call the fire dept and have them cite him, the landlord is wishy-washy and I know she won't tell him anything.
