I was at a kind of very casual restaurant with my friend. We got our food which was 30 dollars. There was a table nearby with two women in their late 20s I'm guessing and an older man I took to be their father.

Suddenly one of the women got up from the other table and walked towards us. Then she sat at our table, which was a wraparound booth. She put her arm on my friend. Then she said not to eat the vegetables (my friend ordered two sides of veggies and chicken), because they are rubbery. Then she said to my friend that she sent hers back and that my friend might have her old veggies. Then she suggested she order fruit.

We both sat their with out mouths hanging open. We didn't know what to say. We were very confused. Finally she left.

Basically we didn't want to say anything because recently there was a murder at a restaurant where someone was doing some weird stalking and then he came back and killed someone. So we just sat silently.

My friend was very upset (more to come...)

I feel that woman had no right to do that. The veggies looked good. My friend can make a decision for herself. Also, it costs money. She ruined our night. I also felt she bullied us. And the only reason we couldn't say anything is because it was very confusing and scary.

What would make a person come up to someone like this? I couldn't make sense of it. Why do you think she did that? I never get to see my friend. It really dampened our night.

She was probably drunk or a person with a psychological problem, I would be very upset myself...what you did was right, just kept silent, I mean nowadays who knows what could happen...that would surely ruin my night also...how dare she just sit at your table and put her arm around your friend as if she knew the two of you....very strange...if someone wants to warn you about the quality of the food, they can do so in a different manner and certainly not take a seat at your table.

Well I was at a small diner like place where you got your own drinks, The counter there was dirty with pop and such and kids had made a mess of the to go cup tops and straws, loose ones were on the dirty counter. My girlfriend made it known to one of the workers and that employee just put all the now dirty lids and straws back in the clean lids and straws place. We both let people know what the worker had done and told the manager. So why couldnt you have said thank you for the info and if I have a problem with my veggies then I can handle getting new ones.

Why pick on walter btw?

Maybe, she made a bet or a dare with one of the other friends back at her table that she'd come over there where you were and sit down and touch you and joke about the food. Now days, people will do all kinds of weird stuff just for a laugh. Next time, if something happens like this again just laugh at them and say, you've never seen a crazy person up close like that before. That their pretty funny looking and just keep laughing at them. They'll move away from you.

That is weird. I waited tables at a privately owned restaurant for a while, and sometimes people would be so normal, and then like the next week they would be crazy acting. Not drunk, just goofy like that. She may have a grudge against the owner, or she may know something about the place that you don't, Don't let it get to you, but I would go back and tell the manager so he or she can try to figure out what's up.

I would've told her "my veggies were fine, now get lost". After that I'd probably have laughed about it. Then I'm not afraid to speak my mind and not afraid of weirdo's generally, the cases it turns into violence are rare, especially from women. Not saying it couldn't ever happen but odds are really low, you're at more risk of a car accident driving to and from the place.

Oh come on! Does this really ruined your night? I think you are just making a big deal out of something small. It was some joke maybe not funny for you but it was. Get over it. Cheers!!

What's wrong with giving someone a friendly hint that something's wrong with the food. There is no such thing as "boundary" when you're warning someone of an inferior product. It's not like she was saying: "be careful of that waiter over there- he's a Republican". I've had what you've desribed done to me as well as being the one to do it. You are being paranoid. Perhaps the lady's body language of sitting at your area and wrapping herself around you was boundary-crossing, but some people from some cultures and social groups do that - hispanics touch the person they are talking to - I've seen some upper crust types use touching as a way to remind you that they are superior. Get over it.

All you needed was the music from the shower scene in Psycho... People are just weird, no self respecting restaurant will resubmit food to other patrons after its been returned.

She was either drunk or trying to warn you, or both. Some people have no manners. Why would you let it ruin your evening, it something like that ever happens again, laugh and continue with you life.

That is very weird. Strangers don't just do that to people. Was she drunk? Or maybe did she have a mental disorder? This goes beyond being nice, to just being creepy. You're right to feel weird about it. That was weird.
