I think it's a poor way to make yourself clear and even if the sarcastic meaning is obvious, it's quite a silly way to make yourself look.
I think being clear is better. Less annoying.

sarcasm is a poor form of wit - meaning their are other ways to get to the point and make it clear without being sarcastic

Sarcasm ROCKS but is also hurtful.

I personally spit out sarcasm way too often. I have learned to stop before I speak (though my thoughts and quick wit responses hit me almost immediately) and analyze who my audience is and their potential response, but this took years to learn, understand, and implement.

I will always be sarcastic - I am sometimes told when the situation is serious or when they just want straight honest answers, and I will switch to this way for people.

And yes, sarcasm is a defense mechanism. My sarcastic response such as, "the sky," when you say, "what's up?" is my way of letting you know that I dont' want to share my person life with you. Perhaps I dont' believe you really care or maybe underneath I don't like your or maybe I just dont want to share.

As I stated above, I may believe that someone doesnt' really care and I want to back this up. Try this the next time you feel bold - you might be amazed! ------
Someone passes by your or a random person says, "how are you?" Answer this way, "I'm sucidal and you." So many people will say fine thanks and keep walking or not even catch what you said til they're 200 feet away and suddenly they analyze what they heard. So, okay, there goes my sarcasm, but I feel my point has been proven..........

Sarcasm is often used as a tool to boost the ego of the giver and subtly insult the receiver. Some, however are incapable of stating their purpose without using sarcasm in some form. It offers an air of ambiguity while slicing open deep wounds...giving the sarcastic linguist a sense of power. Those who are quite adept at using words as a weapon are not required to back up their slander with physical prowess because the specific intent is unclear. Sarcastic mouths belong to cowardly souls. Therefore, sarcasm is ultimately a method of compensating for weakness with intellect. Gotta luv it! Although, I do agree it can be quite annoying to be on the receiving end.

Ah well; I love it, and it's not silly; if done well it is a sign of intelligence. If someone just says "nice tie!" to a work colleague wearing an iffy accessory, that is a lesser form of sarcasm than someone saying "oh, I didn't know Armani were having a sale!"

I think it is a good teaching method, especially for the intelligent but hard headed ones who have their nose so high in the air they don't think their sh** stinks.

You tell a person like that something, and they will usually dismiss you; you slap them with some biting sarcasm and they will think about it later, and it will eat at them. Try it, it works if you are clever enough to deliver the right dosage.

If you want to be clear and not annoying, sarcasm is a poor way to express your self. Personally I am not a dry humored turd. I take great pride in pissing people off in a go F your self manor.

Most of the time I like it, although of course it depends a bit on the situation, at work or some place it can be inappropriate. And online lots of people don't get it, 'cause they can't hear your tone of voice.

It is fantastic among friends and family. And can definitly be one of the better humors. However, not so good for business or taboo subjects.
