continually provoked you? It's my mother-in -law and thank God I'm outta her house this week. I've had enough of her manipulation.

While still stuck in the house, be polite. After you've gone, let 'er rip!!!!

Since it is your mother in law I would be quiet and not say a word. You do want to maintain your marriage, do you not??
I would say to her upon departing, "Thank you very much for your kindness. You will never know how much I appreciate it."
Then I would send her flowers or buy her a gift.

Just think of how much your husband will love it and it will kill your mother in law because if her game is manipulation, she will know exactly why you are doing this......Talk about pay backs? This is the big one, use it to your advantage.....

It sounds as though she has been rude to you for whatever reason. That is no way to treat 1. family member, 2. guest.

Say nothing, just leave, your last words "well, this was interesting" or, "thank you for a lovely time". LOL

Any negative comment from you will be blown out of proportion and your husband will suffer the consequence (her nagging and carping) and believe me, you will hear about it.

Good luck.

You are quite in the right to speak up for yourself, but always take a chip out of what you were going to say, just to be polite.

You would not want them to regret offering service to another, because of poor experience with you. So anything that does not make them regret bringing you in is fine.

just be glad you are leaving the old bat alone again! i have houseguests from hell and cant wait til they leave. mother in laws are notorious for being miserable so just count your blessings and try not to provoke her, at least not until moving day and then make some comment as you are heading out the door for her to stew over!

It's never wrong to speak up for yourself as long as it's done tactfully. I've learned that we teach people how to treat us, and if we let that kind of crap go on, that kind of crap will continue to go on. P.S. My heart goes out to you :)

Yes, it's wrong. You are a guest in her house so you follow her rules and allow her freedoms you would not extend to her in your own home. Bite your tongue and be grateful for her hospitality.

You can speak up for yourself, but then leave. After all, it's their house.
