I have been working with my company since June of last year. I enjoy my co-workers and my direct co-worker quite well. Soon we will be taking a business trip which requires us to travel for a convention a minimum six hours away from our office. My problem is: My co-worker is a terrible driver in all senses. Shes told me since shes had her drivers license shes totaled two cars. I have already been in the car with her a few too many times and it has made me a believer! Not wanting to hurt her feelings but not wake up with hurting bones, how can I find a fair and unhurtful solution?
a paranoid passenger...?

We lived in our last house for 12 yrs and everytime a new neighbor moved in close to us, we would take over cookies or cupcakes and tell them our names and welcome them to the neighborhood. We have lived in this new house since Dec. and not one neighbor has came over to welcome us or introduce themselves! Are people just becoming more unfriendly these days or am I just overreacting? Do you welcome your neighbors?

My boss gave me an official first warning because she thinks that I shouldn't have friends @ work. I am the most cheerful person @ work, I get along with every1, she says that saying "hello" to some1 should be enough, no extra chit chat. She also said that i should not be friendly with the cleaning ladies because it's unprofessional. I want to quit today!

like when they come through a drive thru, dont even acknowlage the person giving them their food, and then drive away without even getting everything because they were too busy talking to pay attention?
Or if you driving a coworker home and they spend the whole trip talking on their cell phone when you dont even know where they live?
Does it mean that the people around them arent good enough to talk to if they have to be talking on their phones instead of to the people around them?
what about cell phones on the job? Ive seen people sneak away and go in the back room to talk on their phones.
are cell phones just making society less friendly?

I am going away for about 2 1/2 weeks.

My dog requires medication at 8am and 8pm. This is not flexible. The cheapest boarding kennel I can find is $15/day. I would also need (a neighbour?) to feed other pets.

Would it be reasonable to save myself some money and earn my brother some money, by offering him $10/day to housesit?

My brother is 19 and lives at home with our mother. He is studying but not employed. He would be required to feed the dog, rabbit and fish; and maybe open bills to check if they are due before I get back. I would not expect him to pay those bills or do any housework other than clean up after himself.

As I was browsing through a lot of these questions here, I found a LOT of questions varying from non-violations, small violations, to downright HUGE violations...and they seem to go unreported; either that, or I am missing the big picture. Not to mention some comments DIRECTLY stating out loud violations...I mean, somewhere along the line, maybe I said a lot of vilations, too without realizing it...but if I got reported, then I would try to fix it later on...however, I do think that there are a lot of people out there that deserve it more than me (trust me on this one, you have to look deeper for this, though). But how come they don't get reported?

Suppose you are in conversation with somebody, with a whole lot of people in a room just milling around and talking to somebody. Suppose further that you and the person you are talking to have both run out of things to say to each other, and you want to walk away so you can strike up a conversation with somebody else. What is the most polite way to communicate your intentions to the person you are talking to?

My friend almost hugged a waiter last night as he swooped in to get her dishes. She thought he was coming in for a hug but luckily caught herself. Poor guy probably would have had a heart attack. Looked like an Italian papa and she thought he was coming in for a hug. We laughed until we cried.

We've lived in the country, totally "neighborless" for the past several years, and are getting ready to move to a gorgeous little neighborhood soon. I am thrilled to finally be getting neighbors, and I want to make a good first impression. What is the proper etiquette involved with meeting the neighbors?

While I wouldn't mind making the rounds to introduce myself, I'm afraid it might come across as being too pushy or "Stepford-like" (phony and unnatural)? Would it instead be better to wait for the neighbors to make the first move -- or just wait until we happen to run into each other while taking out the trash?

Any ideas are appreciated. Thank you!

I have a gardener who works very well whenever there is a male person around the house. At those times he is working like he is on fire, but when it its just me, he is idling half the time. The thing is, since he does seem to work, no one believes me when I say he doesn't. Really would like to get rid of him, but feel a bit guilty as well....
