I don't make many mistakes so I only check when I'm in doubt about a word. I can't remember the last time I did that and had it stop on another word in my mail or post (apart from names and such of course). I guess it's about knowing your own weaknesses and also indeed laziness...

It also depends on the situation, I don't think a single error in a question or answer matters much, it's pretty informal, but business mails should not contain any errors, and even informal emails, forum posts or answers on here should be written well enough they're easy to read! Sometimes I see stuff on here that makes me think people need a dictionary or a new keyboard rather than a spell checker!

I think spelling has gone with the wind these days. I really cant understand why people cant be bothered to learn the right spelling. Its laziness alright, and also the fact that everybody seems to accept atrocious spelling.

Oh, spelling is not the biggest problem with a language. You can actually spell everything right and still not make any sense... Take grammar as a whole not by bits because you have a bit of a problem too.

Yes that is annoying, but like other people have said, it is much more annoying when people just don't make sense. I mean, they can spell everything right and just not make sense. Or post half a thought, and I guess we are supposed to be mind readers and know what they are talking about.

Yes, seems so. Fred the Dog was very clever though, and made his point very well. Spell check does not catch everything!

Its hard to believe, but it does seem to be the case. How do people expect me to take their questions or answers seriously if they can't be bothered to click a little box? Its bad enough that they need it.

It would certainly seem so. Although maybe "lazy" is not the right word for it. I mean they may not know they need it....ouch!

Hi Steve,I agree with you,it is so very annoying trying to decipher questions,I think that so many just fire their posts without really thinking about what the hell they are doing.

Why do you feel it's necessary to use profanity to get an answer to this question?
