I lectured while I was a graduate student at University. For the most part, the students were polite and didn't talk or interrupt while I was lecturing.

But since I've been in the workforce, I've noticed that the same cannot be said for adults who are being lectured to. I've noticed that these adults talk amongst themselves and often ignore the speaker. It's a very rude behavior and I find it surprising that they exhibit this behavior.

A man asked for a big mac with extra cheese but we didn't like his tone, so a co-worker filled his burger with pigeon meat instead before farting on his fries. should i have reported him?

I've noticed that males hardly ever offer their seats to females be it on the bus or in class or anything. In fact , I've seen more girls than guys offer their seats to the elderly while the guys just sit around and pretend not to notice. Is it a lack of manners/gentlemen or is it just different now because women are stronger and more independant now than say 20 yrs ago and are being treated accordingly?

I was chatting online with this woman I have known for about a year, told her about an item I had won in a raffle, and asked if she might want it. She told me I could send it to her as a Christmas present (this was back in Dec.), but the shipping would cost too much. I asked if that was a Yes or No, and she said "No, due to costs".

Well silly me, I sent it anyway assuming she really wanted it. However when it arrived she did nothing but mock it and tell me how worthless it is to her.

Now I'll admit it was a pretty lame gift that I got for free, but still couldn't she have just said "Thank You for the Christmas present!" in the spirit of giving and then toss it in the rubbish behind my back? She lives in another country so it's not like I would have known.

So the question is do I send more gifts for birthdays & Christmas that I've paid for when she was so ungrateful for the one I got for free?

I was reading a question written by a teenage girl who got pregnant and was keeping the baby.. she wanted to know how she could clear her mind before the delivery.. i read the answers and some of them were just down right mean saying she shouldn't be pregnant at that age or to give her baby up assuming she couldn't take care of it.. does age really matter when it comes to being a good parent? and why aren't people looking down at the teenage boys who got these girls pregnant in the first place? Would the same girl be looked at the same or worst if she had gotten an abortion?

I live in a brownstone building on the top floor. The couple who live directly below me are causing me problems. It is unusual for people who live BELOW you to cause a noise problem, but they do. I hear them having sex and grunting and moaning at all hours to the point where it makes my dog start barking. At least three times a week they are at my door to ask for milk, or because they've locked themselves out of their apartment (they do this twice a week and expect me to buzz them in or call them a locksmith). If they need something printed out or they need a recommendation for some service, they are righ at my door immediately. But they NEVER return the favor. If I ask them for any assistance at all, they look annoyed, "say I'm busy right now" and that's it. I have asked them to keep the music down - loud German techno played so loud that I can't talk on the phone - but they don't. What can I do to stop these pigs from mistreating me?

Do you eat it anyway...Do you tell the waitress to send it back and get more? Do you tell them you will not be paying for the meal? Do you say it right there to the waitress' face? What is the proper etiquette for this one...my husband will not let me say anything, he thinks it's rude.

I have referred to this question before, and since it is considered very rude in other countries (perhaps even justifiably outlawed in some as well), I continue to grapple with it. It is meant as a serious question and if it even has an answer (I suspect so), perhaps Germans are in the best position to answer it.

Not only do people regularly..make that often..no, extremely often... blow their noses so LOUD at the table while eating in restaurants (I assume they do tat home too), they do so in a matter-of-fact manner that befuddles me and others. Just recently, one guy honked so loudly that a group of young Japanese tourist girls looked up startled, then started giggling. I assure you if they had been sitting within backblast range of that clown as I was, they wouldn't have been laughing!

And sometimes on the train (a more permissible venue I realize), it is like they have contests to see who can honk the loudest. It is positively grotesque, but WHY is it done and tolerated????

My mom asked me what a "shade" was today. She was at work and talking to an employee, and the employee said she wouldn't work for a "shade" when she was referring to my mom's boss. He is also black, is this woman saying she wouldn't work for a black person? Or is it like "shady" like sketchy and not trust worthy????

It seems to me that people don't follow this practice any longer, at least not to the extent that it was in the past.

You go to a nice establishment for dinner, and everyone inside is dressed nice (the sign on the building reads "proper attire please") the people inside are pleasant and enjoying a very nice meal, then in comes a person with a backwards ballcap on, bluejeans hanging off his @ss ( he must share them with his fat brother I guess), behaving like a jerk-off? I have seen this. The sign on the building is not a suggestion - it is a kick in the crotch to the family who opened the establishment for someone to disrespect policy like this.

Has anyone ever noticed that? I was watching a Seinfield show last night with my dad and he pointed that out. I thought it was interesting, and thought of a friend of mine that talks to you within two inches of your face. Does anyone else notice that or know someone like that?

I notice that I automatically say "excuse me" after I sneeze. I am not sure with your culture but in mine, people practice this. Do you know why some people say "excuse me" after sneezing?

I can't stand people who can't merge...instead they stop and stare back at traffic. Or people that keep waaaay too much distance between them and the car in front of them at a stoplight so that you can't get into a turn lane, and therefore you miss the turn arrow. And don't get me started on slow drivers in the fast lane.
