More important than this is WHY you have such an aversion. Have you sought help?

You can politely offer everyone a slice of the cake, and place a piece of cake on your plate and walk around your guests and talk casually to different ones. No one is going to notice you are not eating it. Then, after a bit, you can slip into the kitchen or another room by yourself and eat it any way you choose to. When you emerge again to your guests, no one will be any the wiser.

But I really would get some counseling help about this aversion, since it affects so much of your life, unless you live alone and eat in Chinese or other Asian restaurants, where you can get chopsticks; or in an Indian restaurant, where you can eat many things with your fingers.

it really is up to you, u can eat with your hands even in public I come from a cultural where it is rude to eat with utensiles, and we even serve with our hands some foods, the hot one's with utensiles but other things like bread, cheese, cold meats,sandwiches....

take small bites of cake with fingers and do not gobble chew all your pieces and it should be fine.

Hope that helps ya out hun! Cheers! Good luck!

In polite society, if you worry about being rude, you will need to get over the flatware issues.
