Periodically he will go to Kinkos and have them bind little books of the stuff, which he gives to everyone he knows. It is really, really awful stuff.

I will say something like, "Thanks for sharing that with me, it was nice to get such a personal gift, and it looked really professional the way you had it bound and everything!" But inevitably I'm directly asked, "How did you like my poetry?"

I'm a terrible liar, even the "little white lies." I try to spin something positive-sounding that isn't a total lie, but I wind up stumbling and stuttering and, well, it doesn't sound so good.

Even if I straight-up lie and say it was great (which I can't do well), I know there will be tricky follow up questions about what I liked about it and which one I liked (and they're too awful to read them all). Any suggestions? I need a positive-sounding but evasive answer! (This is an adult, BTW)

If it is derogatory, why use it at all?

Would you go to your friend and say, hey there stupid idiot, what's up?

I guess if you want others to stop saying it, then why not stop saying it yourself?

I'm not a big fan of christmas for reasons (childhood)...anyway - the gift I received, I have no need for at all, what do I do? I would hate for it to sit in my closet and collect dust. I really don't want it, but don't want to hurt feelings? what should i do?

My family had an over the top Christmas this year including ATV's, diamonds (large), and a new (used) truck for my 15 year old son. These gifts were from grandparents and in laws. How do I address the inevitable "What all did your family get for Christmas" question at work? I don't want it to seem like bragging. I'm very thankful for everything. How do I tell it gracefully or do I just say "Christmas was fine"? I absolutely hate people who try to outdo other people.

My boyfriend and I have been dating for 7 months and we went to his mom's place for christmas dinner. She got me sterling silver earrings and a necklace with heart designs in them-very pretty! What should I write in a thankyou note to her, without sounding cheesy? I am also planning to put a picture of my boyfriend and I from Christmas in the card when I send it. Also, how do I end the note? Sincerly, Love,From, Best Regards??

Don't you think that she deserves a real gift? What if she gave YOU a picture of herself instead of a nice gift?

Does it matter if the person is married or not, and I'm single?
My female friend told me it is rude and said the friend seemed to really want to dance with me... so I did eventually join him, although by that time he was dancing with a married woman, so we danced in three. I just want to know the proper etiquette.

I was at a wedding and a soap star was there. I'm on the bride's side, but the star was with the groom's side. Is it o.k. to go up to her and talk to her or just ignore her?
