That actually sounds like a great gift - too bad you can't find it useful. The fact that your best friend gave you this gift makes it difficult to return it. She probably thought she was giving you something great. You probably should have told her honestly up front if you opened it in front of her. If you opened it without her being present, you should ask her if she would mind if you returned it for something else. She might even have the receipt. Be kind and help her understand that it is not something you feel feel you will have time to utilize it for the purpose it was meant. She will appreciate your honesty.

I definitely think telling her would hurt her feelings. Having a best friend is like having a really close sister. I remember one time when my sister told me she wouldn't use my gift and asked if I minded if she returned it. I told her I didn't care, but really I was hurt and still bitter about it a year later at Christmas time.

It's the thought that counts. Thank her for the gift and store it away to reuse for someone else. I think telling her you won't use it and don't appreciate her thought would be rude and could hurt her feelings.

If she is your best friend, it should not be a problem...maybe you should ask her to go with you to return it, and the 2 of you can pick out something different that you can use...then YOU can take her out to lunch as a thank-you for understanding.

No. Say thank you and try to use it soon so you can tell her how great it was of her to think of your tired feet. Appreciate the thought and be grateful she bought you anything!!

if she's truly a friend, she won't mind. Be sure and tell her you appreicate it and ask her if it would hurt her feelings if you returned it. Get something that each time you look at it, it reminds you of her. I think she'd love that idea.

If she's your best friend, you can tell her that if YOU had given her a gift she wouldn't use, you would want her to feel free to exchange it. Then ask her if the two of you can go together to exchange it!
