Advice that a rich man once gave me, which changed my life: "When a rich man gives you money, take it." (back then, when I used to think it was somehow "wrong" or "impolite" to accept gifts; that kind of thinking might have protected kids from accepting candy from strange strangers, but it also made me realize that I developed a negative self-image by somehow convincing myself that I wasn't worth the gifts that life was continually showering upon me)

Having said that, I would invest that $15. And thank you for enriching my life. If I live another 30 years, even at 8% interest that $15 would turn into $150. No one has ever said, during their retirement, that they wished they had put less money towards their retirement. Every little bit adds up. Think about it: every time you go buy a grande latte you're stealing $5 seed money from your retirement. You can either have a latte now, or 10 latte's later. If you spend it all now, and have no savings or investments, you'll always feel insecure where your next source of $ will be to feed your spending addiction.

Even if I saved 10%, gave away 10%, and spent the rest, I'll still be way ahead of the person who has a spending addiction and spends the entire $15.

A better quality question would be: "If you received $1M, what would you do?" Or whatever amount of $ would mean to you "If money no longer mattered to you, what would you do?" That question is actually a question about your values. The person who would somehow spend it all on him/herself is a lot different than the person who wants to preserve financial security for him/herself and loved ones, who is a lot different than the one who wants to set up a foundation, a source of funds to help whatever causes are worthy to them.

Another higher-level question would be "How can I BE the one giving out $15?" Think about all the lives you'd be affecting. How would you feel, if you saw that $15 go *poof* in the hands of another, when he buys a latte and cigarettes, even when his shoes have holes? If you saw the smile on the face of the one you gifted? If someone threw that $15 back at you?

Good luck with your $15. It's more than just a couple of green bills.

Money given, should be money spent... So i would indulge myself with the latest Maree Clare $8 in (Australia) and some Pashion pop wine $5.99. With the 1 dollar left Ill bye some froggies and have a lay in the bath with all three. Thanks for the $15. What would you do? and why $15?
