It's just a dance afterall, no long term commitment. At most, you're on the floor for a couple minutes which is the duration of a song. But you're still allowed to turn down or accept whomever you wish. And what's wrong with dancing with married people? It's not like you're making out with them on the dance floor. Just get out there and have fun!

If you feel you have no interest in the person , i don't think it is rude. Always play it by ear never lead any one on , and dancing with someone who you really don't want to can do that. From what you said in your question he was into the dance more so then you . i think when you turned him down you were not rude.

undesirable etiquette with out giving a sturdy reason and letting you down gently, which includes "thank you lots for asking, i'm flattered, yet i'm afraid I even have have been given 2 left ft, so regrettably i visit could instruct you down". This then will become downright rudeness if he right this moment is going off and dances with somebody else. (and of path a similar applies if a guy asks a woman to bop).

if you do not feel like dancing then do not dance.it is only rude if you turn down the invitation then turn right around and dance with the next person who ask 10 seconds later.then thats a little disrespectful.it is just a dance not marriage.not saying you do but women tend to act as if men want something more .although some do we are all not like that.is it not why you are there?

No, it's not rude. That's why men ask first and don't just grab you by your hair and haul you out onto the dance floor. The question gives the opportunity to consider your options and decide for yourself one way or another.

You can turn down whom you wish. Done politely there is nothing wrong with it. As to dancing with married woman, well that depends on the husband. I've seen that situation get real ugly.

Yes it is rude unless you have an excuse (bathroom break, just got off the floor) etc. I think this kind of etiquette only applies at a wedding or whatever. If you are at a bar I think you can refuse anyone you want - just do it graciously.

A no thank you is quite proper enough. You shouldn't feel obligated to dance with anyone who makes you uncomfortable.

It's not rude. I'm sure you won't dance with any Tom, Dick or Harry. If you feel he is flirty and he's married, don't dance with him. His wife will appreciate it.

I think it's rude but I guess it's a option. I know if I asked someone to dance and they said no for whatever reason, I'd be humiliated. Think how you'd feel!
