http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2007/12/27/does-monthly-fasting-help-your-heart.aspx

The article linked above mentions that there are health benefits to be had from a monthly fast. The article also points out that Mormons fast every month, and this caused me to wonder... Do any other religions teach their followers to fast regularly, and if so, which ones?

I want to know how many 'Dwaars' or openings our physical body has through which it interacts with the outer atmosphere and surroundings. This strictly in terms of energy (spiritual and yogic) exchange/reception/dispersion by an individual. Somewhere I heard that our physical body is also referred as "Navadwarapuri", so I want to know what are those.

Hope to get some really insightful answers!

I recently understand that when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord that He also was water baptized for us. That is why when the thief on the cross confessed he was a sinner, that Jesus was innocent & confessed Jesus Lord & King, that Jesus said to this thief, "Today you will be with me in paradise.". The thief was then made the righteousness of Christ. He is the first person who was born of God, receiving the atonement for his sins & made the righteousness of Christ.

(I do believe we should be water baptized in obedience to Jesus when we confess Jesus Lord & believe in our heart He raised from the dead.)

have the tendency to sin again!

Likewise, Adam and Eve were created perfect, yet they sinned. So how can you call them perfect when they had the tendency to sin? In this sense, once people ascend to heaven, and become perfect, we are still very much capable of sinning again, and restart the whole cycle! You might attempt to say that the angels and Adam&Eve had free-will despite being perfect and that's why they sinned. But once we ascend to heaven we still have free-will don't we? How can people have free-will and not be able to sin at the same time? Particulary unborn babies who get a free pass to heaven, they haven't seen anything, so they might as well sin once they get to heaven? If you attempt to say that god already knows who will go to heaven and never sin, then why don't god just create only those who will never sin despite their free-will?

Go and ponder christians! I know you're thought not to think critically about your bible, but give it a try!

2Corinthians 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) (KJV)

This is a direct quote from Isaiah 49:8, the following translation more closely follows
Isaiah:

2Corinthians 6:2 for He saith, ‘In an acceptable time I did hear thee, and in a day of salvation I did help thee, lo, now is a well-accepted time; lo, now, a day of salvation,’ —(Youngs Literal Translation)

Isaiah 49:8 Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;

"a day" or "the day" of salvation, which is correct and why is it important?

"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them." – Leviticus 20.13

Exodus 35.2 God demands we kill everyone who works on sabbath day

Deuteronomy 22:13-21 God demands that we kill girls who are not virgins when they marry

Actually read the bible, read it and you will find such horrible things and you choose to worship this god?

I'm a new Christian, and I want to spread my faith to two of my best friends. However, one of them is completely opposed to it. The other at least attends Youth Group with me, and seems open to it. The friend that is completely opposed says he has a major problem with Christianity, after past events such as the Spanish Inquisition and the Holy Crusades, while the other is very analytical and scientific, and is steadfast in his belief of the Big Bang and other such "scientific phenomena". I know that I just have to leave it up to God to change them, but is there some way I could help them? Please, serious responses only.

Obviously still on a rough draft; I'm not asking for a thorough critique, I would just really appreciate it if you would read this entire beginning to what I am writing (I have more than this, but I'm obviously not going to post it all). I realize this is somewhat long to be posting here, but I really need some outside advice, honest input please.

She sighed with discontentment as the world continued to turn. Even though she did not see it, the earth did spin. Even though the world did not see it, her heart did ache. It ached with a deep longing that she feared would never be fulfilled. Or couldn’t, she mused, couldn’t. Maybe it was impossible to satisfy.
The swift, cool breeze carrying on from the ocean sent shivers through her body. She gazed at the luminous full moon as it bestowed a lane of light upon the depthless, navy waters. Its path shimmered as the seas remained calm. The unbounded veil of black above held the wishes of many young children; there was no telling the number of hopes and dreams each star compressed. She became a child again for a mere moment in hope that some far-off star would hear and grant her unspoken wish. The clouds proceeded to roll across the skies, while further concealing the aspirations of her heart.
Pulling the blanket closer around her, she arose slowly and took in a deep breath. Tomorrow was another day, she reminded herself, each new dawn brings a new beginning and new opportunities, as her grandmother used to advise. She opened the screen door and drudged her way up the stairs. Longingly, she crawled beneath the downy blankets, and sunk into a much-needed, restful slumber.
She awoke the next morning to the sound of two lively, spirited young girls, both of whom quivered with excitement. Their shrill voices carried through the air and into her room. Even just two and the giggling was perpetual.

Jim Morrison has a strong cult following as can be witnessed if you visit his grave in Paris on any given day of the week. He was a singer, poet, visionary, risk taker, alcoholic, and possible drug addict. What is his greatest gift to the world? Why is he still so popular in American culture?

My theory:

You sit on YA 10 to 14 hours a day, answering questions, debating with people that disagree, asking mundane questions that don't really have any relevance to your life, but they seemed interesting when the question first came into your mind...so you ask and then get upset because nobodies answering you, so you contemplate whether it's all worth it...the Yahoo lifestyle...then you see one question in R&S that sparks your interest and when you read the responses being given you feel all warm inside, so you answer and then every atheist and christian and islamic nut slams you for even thinking you could be wise enough to answer one of their questions with your emotionally ill self...so then you begin to wonder if life is even worth living...so you put a question on one last time that says, "Does anyone out there care at all?"
